Default MAF Sensor replacement

How often should a MAF sensor be replaced? I have some lagging/dead spots that I am attributing to either a dirty or bad MAF. Cleaning should take place before replacing but wanted to get some opinions 1st. My truck is an 11 SCREW, 5.0.

Also, off topic... When running the AC and driving, I hear a faint squealing inside the cab. Roughly every 30 seconds. Thinking it's the clutch on AC pump. Thoughts?

I have had trucks with 150K miles and still have the factory MAF Sensor. By any chance you have a K&N filter or some other brand filter that requires you to oil it. I would suggest cleaning it before replacing it and if you have a oiled filter get it out of there and put a new Motorcraft filter in it! Often people replace there MAF and its not the cause of there issue.

What else would you suggest might cause sluggishness or a lag in the throttle? It's quite frustrating when I need to pick up speed and it bogs down then goes.

Could be you octane rating..? The air intake mixes your fuel injection so it could possibly be the octane rating of your fuel.. Next i would check your fuel pump because i agree i doubt its your MAF sensor

Plug gap to big, fuel pump, dirty air filter, vacuum leak, lack of tune, etc.

Do you ever run any fuel or injector cleaner? With the quality of gas getting worse I would try a can of seafoam or lucas injector fuel system cleaner, next i would check the spark plug's.

I would clean the MAF & throttle body since they are right there together, use a product designed especially for the m.a.f. not the throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner. I bet you notice a nice change.
