So as much as I want to thank you all for helping direct me in my purchase. I go to pick up my truck on Friday and another sales person sold my truck to someone else. I get a "I'm sorry" and a "We'll make it up to you someway somehow." And my salesman and the sales manager try kissing butt and talking mustangs with me cause I'm wearing a mustang shirt, trying to divert my anger. I said I was pissed and was letting my voice carry so that other customers could hear me. They shut the door and try calming me down. Then he gives me the whole well we had you approved for Wednesday and this is Friday and we didn't have any signature on anything bs. I said I had the salesman's word. We talked everyday including the Thursday before and said we were all good to go on Friday. So long story short my damn truck got sold and I have hits on my credit cause they ran it and a approved loan but no truck to use it on. And of course they try to sell me a more expensive truck. (I'm a little hot headed and am on the verge of slugging the S.M.) Then finally he just keeps reiterating I'll fix this....yada ...yada...yada. He tells me loan approval is good for 30 days and he will find me another one. I have to frickin see this. I'm just so frickin mad. I'm so let down by Ford lately. This is the second Ford dealer to "F" me in the past 30 days. I got screwed over by Davies Ford of Connellsville in their service department trying to rip me off on a repair on an 07 Freestyle. Well I'm done venting. Thanks to all I'm back in the pot again.

That does stink man but you got to believe it didn't happen for a reason. Maybe that truck has problems in the next 20K miles and you were stuck with a 5 year loan. Ive had this happen to me as well and you have every right to be torqued. But again, just remember it didn't happen for a reason, one you may never know but trust it and have faith in that. You may just find an even sweeter deal. Find out who the dealer got you approved through. I'm sure its a finance company you could use at any dealer. If its good for 30 days call them and connect directly with them and then go shopping for a truck elsewhere. That credit approval belongs to you and can be used anywhere, make them give you the approval info. Might could even pull your credit report and see who the inquiry was from, then call them directly and tell them you want to shop around.
Good luck pal

Some of these dealers/salesman will cut your throat for a sale. Don't take it personal but its more about them putting money in their pocket than making you happy. Hard to believe your salesman would let the truck get sold out from under you. I was looking at a vehicle for my wife yesterday. Sunroof would not close all the way. Obvious water damage in ceiling as the roof liner was rippled and pulling from the edges showing padding. Dealer blew it off as wires running to the dvd player and said he really wanted to put me in THIS truck. I bet he did. Willing to sell it to the first unsuspecting chump.

Multiple pre-approvals should not hurt your credit. You're shopping for rates and it is expected.

Put $ down for a down payment next time that way this won't happen. A salesman's word is about as good as dog crap in some cases.

I have seen this happen here as well, it seems these days as bogey said that they will sell vehicles on their lot to whoever shows up and makes the purchase. That being the case, if you find a truck you really like, it seems to me you shouldnt leave the lot without it as they are not going to hold it for you. Here in Tallahassee a guy bought the truck through Ebay and the dealership sold it a customer who showed up on the lot after the ebay deal had closed. So essentially the dealership sold the vehicle to two people but only one went home with it.

I am by no means taking a dealership's side, but look at it this way. What if you changed your mind and did not want the truck, and they let the person who bought it pass on the deal as well. The truck would be sitting on the lot. They did what every dealer does and sold it. It sounds like the salesman was feeding you a line about holding it. With a deposit down they could not sell it to someone else.

Would you hold onto a vehicle you were selling for someone waiting to make a 100% decision if you have cash in your face today? If you say yes you will be lying to yourself.....
