Default Looking for advice

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums and just bought my first ford!! I bought a 2010 FX4 5.4 v8 with 64,xxx. I have been reading around and it seems everyone is getting between 15 to 18 mpg, I've filled up three times now since I have owned the truck and I'm getting 12.(mostly highway 70mph) I'm sure the plugs are original. will changing them help out that much or any advice what I can do to help with milage?

Don't forget the air filter.

Honestly I'd try the air filter first. Mine was so nasty that the first time I did it I literally got 1.5-2mpg more. Granted I live on a dirt road, waited a year after I got the truck to change it, and who knows how long it had been before that

Read the "sticky" MPG thread. Lots of ideas in there how to increase MPG's. One thing you can do is slow down. Driving 55 compared to 70 makes a difference, but who's got time for that!

If you have the factory 20" wheels and 275/55 tires, step down to the factory 18" wheels with 265/60 tires. You'll shed over 60lbs of rolling resistance.

Default One thing that's help me.

One thing that's help me is flying by wire as much as I can. As long as traffic allows I put the cruse control on and coast the stop light. I can get up to 19 on my FX4.

I checked the air filter and it looks good. I even drove 60 on a long trip all highway and only got 13.2 any other ideas guys? Could the plugs really be causing this bad of milage
