Default help with my remote starter, thinking a simple fix.

Ok so a year ago i bought a 05 f150 i just recently found the fob for the remote starter under the back seat. When pressed everything lights but no start. Security light flashes. So i tried it with the key right next to the ignition and it works flawless. So my question is can i fix this myself or does the dealer have to do it?

Try replacing the battery in the fob?

If it's not a range/battery issue then perhaps the bypass module needs to be reprogrammed?

Thanks for the replies, yes battery was replaced. I do believe it does need to be reprogrammed when i first got the truck there was a problem with the pats system. I believe the dealer reprogrammed the pcm and keys. Is there a walk through to reprogram the remote start to the new keys? I could of swore there was a way to do it with the valet button under the dash. Link below is a picture of the system in my truck

first off ... do you have 2 working ign keys that will start the vehicle? if so.. try this and report back....

insert first key and turn on.... count to 5...... remove key and do the same thing with the 2nd key..... remove and remote start the truck within 5 seconds of removing the 2nd key.

another thing , are you pushing the door lock button on the fob (2) times the horn will sound and then push the start button on the remote (2) times the lights should flash to let you know it has started,,try it first,,

Isn't that going to be an aftermarket remote start on an 05?

No go with the 2 keys then remote start. Thinking about bitting the bullet and have a dealer fix it Or just have some where install a aftermarket setup with alarm.
