I too have a hard time believing this. A full-size Silverado with a 4.3L? Now had that 4.3L been in an S-10 (Syclone or Typhoon), I could possibly believe it. My friends dad down in PHX dropped a 350cid in an S10 Blazer back in '96 and that truck was extremely fast. But being in a 1/2 ton truck it is very unlikely, whether it's 2WD or 4WD. My friends '95 S10 4x4 Z pkg with the 4.3L was quite quick with very few mods. Like most Chebby motors, the down low wasn't the greatest in it, but it did have some nice power up high in the RPMs.
Now the OP only stated he's stepped past HEMI's and SRT's on the highway, we truly do not know if the other drivers were really racing him, or if traffic restricted these other drivers or what not. Maybe they didn't want the ticket and let off or weren't stupid enough to go that fast. But at 60+mph, I have a hard time believing a 4.3L Silverado weight of an elephant and aerodynamics of a brick would not compete against these much lighter and more aerodynamic rides.
Until I see a reliable kill video, I'd consider this as BS. And that must have been a really souped up GTP to out run him but him taking down some SRTs and HEMI's.
