You're not- but I'm glad it is there in case I lock the keys inside..
Thinking I might hide-a-key inside somewhere now instead of outside hanging under the engine.

It is nice to get into the truck when it is locked and your keys are in the house.

I've found it pretty useful when I go out to my truck and I've forgotten to grab my keys or if I have my hands full and can't reach my keys in my pockets I can just tap the buttons.

Wink

I like it on my truck. Just bought a '02 Grand Marquis and trying to locate the code for it. Just haven't looked behind kick panels, etc. yet. Back when I use to frequent the beach I wish my cars had it then. Could of left the wad of keys locked in the car instead of worrying about loosing them in the sand. Also, if looking behind the module is too hard to see the code, just go to your local A-Zone, Pep Boys and buy one of those little round pocket mirrors with the extension. Like $3.00 bucks or something. Right next to the magnets.......

On my 1998 Explorer, I didn't like the pad because it was surrounded by plastic that didn't look good with age. On the F-150 it's better designed.

I find it useful for the following:

- Dropping the car off to someone (son at school for example) when they are not around, hide keys in car, they get in via the pad and get the keys.

- Failsafe against locking keys in car, although I haven't done that in decades.

I do NOT like the fact that there is a factory code, or that many people never remove the card from the manual folder. Disreputable service personnel or parking attendants can find the code and use it on a future date. I'd like to be able to wipe out the factory code and store only my own.

My keypad must have corrosion, the 1/2 button does not work, therefore, when I enter the factory code, I can not unlock the truck, only lock it. None of the lights on the keypad light up either. You have to be able to use the 1/2 button to be able to enter a new code. Looks like I will add a new keypad to my list of items needed!

The five numbers at the fuse box on passenger side worked.

Ok, 2005 standard cab FX4, any ideas??

I've looked at the computer under the hood, BCM/fusebox at the passenger kick panel, behind the panels in the back of the cab. So far no
number.......
