Default Key won't turn in ignition

HELP!!!! It is Sunday and I was getting ready for a short trip and the ignition key won't turn. I tried turning it over, rotating the steering wheel, pushing the shifter to make certain it was in Park, trying my other key. Nothing works. Anybody got any more ideas that i should try. It drove and started fine yesterday. I am at my wits end. Please advise.

Spray some graphite into the cylinder, or a little bit of wd-40 on the key (just enough to lubricate, then wipe most of it off). Try to get the transmission out of park with key override (if equipped) and see if it will start in Neutral. One of those may work.

Default Key won't turn in ignition

No key override on transmission that I know of. Tried a high quality lubricant, but it didn't budge. Thanks for the suggestion.

the ranger i have to drive for my work does that sometimes. if the shifter is on the steering wheel push it all the way up and push forward to ensure its all the way in park.

but im guessing since its a 2010 plat that you have the floor shifter like my 05 fx4. in that case i would get a flashlight to ensure nothing is logded inside the ignition.

other than that hopefully some other peeps can chime in and help with this one.

You need to put your whole body into it and twist the steering wheel

my 99 f150 will do the same thing if the truck is shut off with the wheel turned just right. the only thing you can really do is either push the key twards the driver side door really hard and try turning it, move the colum up and down if none of that works jack the front end up so you can get the anti theft thing to unlock.

Just wondering if the problem was fixed......and what it was...

I have a 2000 Focus for the kids to drive and it does the same thing, not too often anymore but it was a PIA.
