Thumbs up Install Recon LED Light Bar

Hi Folks !
Well today I received my Light Bar from Recon. Right out of the shoot I felt good about this product. I was well packaged in a tube packed with foam. This is a 60" solid bar, I am glad I did not purchase a flex one. THe main reason is that it has a lip that can take a screw. I live up in Ontario and it gets cold. It was cold today when I was working on this. THere was no way that I would have confidance that the tape would hold. For those who live in the South where it is warm I think the tape would do the job. But not up here.
The light bar comes with five small srews that attach pads with 3M tape. So I positioned the Bar with a Measuring tape set it in place and checked everthing to ensure this was where I wanted it. I put a mark at each end on my truck so I could put it back where I wanted it. I then peeled off the paper off the 3M sticky tape and very carefully pushed it back on the vehicle. I then took the srews out that hold the pads to the Bar. I drilled through each one throught to the truck to give me a secure point. I then put the bar back on and with self tapping srews screwed the bar to the truck. One area that requires a little attention is where the safety pin comes out of the bottom of the tail gate.(2007 F-150) I moved this pad over to the right to ensure the bar would not stick out and this pin would rip the bar off when you put the tail gate down. Pay attention here. Keep the bar down as far as you can. But you also want it straight. Once I moved the pad I drilled a new hole in the bar to fit with this adjustment.
It was now a snap to put together. Plugged the four way plug into my fitting at the back of the truck then connected the reverse wire to the reverse wire to my trailer hitch as suggested by Platinum Sean. Thanks Sean. Tested it out and it was Sweet. The reverse mode is impressive. This is a nice Light Bar worth the $104.00 bucks. It is the right one for my truck. Time to install from start to finish 1hour 30min.

So there you have it. Hope this help others who want to install a nice addition to your vehicle. It is a great safety feature also.

Regards
Bill

Sounds great. Interesting that the little bump on the right is the same on 07's as the 09's.

Tape those conenctions up nice and tight, cause here comes the salt and snow!
