Default Ford motorhome

I have a '95 motorhome built on a super duty chassis. I was on a trip and towing a car on a tow dolly. I stopped to check the load and when we tried to leave the gear shift would not come out of park. Thinking that it was a mechannical problem I started taking the shrouding off the steering column. I could not figure out what was wrong and called for a tow. A couple of hours later the tow truck shows up and he can't figure it out either so we disconnect the trans linkage and I get my wife to start the motor and then I shift it into drive and climb out from underneath the motorhome and we head down the road. The tow truck followed and pretty soon he starts flashing his lights and we pull over. He tells us that we have something burning. I look at the tow dolly and its hubs are cold. I check the rear hubs on the motorhome and they're cold. I checked the fronts and they were hot. Then the wind changed directions and I saw that they were really smoking. So now it was a must tow situation. So we spent the night in a Ford Dealers parking lot.

The problem turned out to be the brake light circuit. I blew all the light circuits. It's the brake light circuit that tells the transmission the the brake is on therefore it is safe to shift into drive.

My question to the forum is, what caused the front brakes to lock up?

Lastly, even if you think it's a mechannical problem, check the fuses.
