How to wire a truck cap third brake light ??
I have 09 f150,I want to wire a cap with a high mount brake light.
Where do I connect to ?.
I have tried the tail lamps, but the light flashes with the turn signal, same thing when I wire into the trailer plug wires.
Is there a chmsl wire tucked away somewhere just for this purpose ??
THanks Al

What I Did With My 6-LED High Mount Lamp:
On my '97 I took off the left-rear light assembly and found the hot wire that runs to the stop lamp. I tapped into that wire with a 16ga wire. Another 16ga ground wire was connected to the body sheet metal with a ring lug, sheet metal screw and star washer. I ran those two wires through a hole punched through the vertical sheet metal column at the left-rear corner of the bed, up through that column to a square access hole at the top-inside of the bed. The hot wire from the stop lamp circuit was run through a 5 amp fuse holder and the two wires run together up to the top corner of the topper and along the top of the rear window panel to the new high-mounted stop lamp assembly.

To avoid confusion, pull down truck high mount lite and check color code, either tap in there or find same colored wire in lower door jamb and do same. We tend to forget some vehicles use a seperate bulb for turn signals versus tail/stop lites.
