I want to replace the slave cylinder on my 99 Ford F150 4x4 5 speed myself. The repair shops want $800 and I cant afford that. It cant be that hard to do this myself. I'm a single mother Please help me with this.

it depends if its an external or internal.
the external is easy the internal will require you to remove the transmission to get to it. i had to replace mine it was internal. i removed my transfer case transmission and then i had trouble with the pilot baring.

the external is easier its just removing the old one and putting in the new one disassembling the whole truck.

If it's a M5R2 its an internal slave and that is what all late model F150's (92-08) had as the standard option. Cost me about $400 when mine went out at 73K miles (maybe that drop had something to do with the tb going out at 95K miles). It's a $20 part, but on the internal ones you have to completely drop the transmission to get to.

Theres nothing to it.. Drop the trans... you will need a special tool to d/c the lines.. Or you can make your own.. The lines are a pain in the **** soemtimes to get undone even with the tool. You have to drop the trans.
