Default How much to pay, 2004 F150 FX4

Looking to buy a 2004 F150 FX4 with 150k on the truck but due to a timing belt mis-hap a brand new engine with under 10k. Truck is in descent shape it's got the lariat interior leather captain seats, center shifter and fancy FX4 gauges but due to the odd situation what are y'all thinking for a fair asking price, guy is asking 9k. Thoughts?

I just paid 8k for an 05 lariat 4x4 with 166k it was/is in great shape... however owned it a month motor took a crap on me so I would say depending on the shape of the body etc its prolly not worth 9k more like 7.5

Edit oh mines a SCREW. Is that a Scab?

Default Looked it up

Kbb is saying 6k with 150k miles and it's saying 12k with 10k miles, and that sucks the engine went so soon, I heard the engines are crapping a lot on these, luckily I don't have to worry about that anytime soon, knock on wood. So what's a fair comeback price 7 or 8k?

If kbb says $6k I wouldn't go any higher than that. He says it's a brand new engine but is it? Or was it honed and new pistons, bearings installed - we'll never know.
Plus what maintenance items need replacement?

But this is just my opinion. I bought one used truck that appeared great. Two weeks into it a gear shattered in the trans and about six months later the fuel pump had to be replaced. It had a ton of previous owner wiring that had to be torn out and repaired. And about a year into it my sister called and asked if I knew it had been wreck to the tune of $14k in damage (never showed on carfax). Probably the last previously enjoyed vehicle I will ever own.
