OMG, there's an invoice. OMG!
I once saw multiple invoices on the same vehicle and they were all different. MSRP is always the same.

Well, my truck had a MSRP of 48k, and I paid 36k OTD- you figure it out. IT CAN BE DONE. Remember this- when you are walking out to get in your new vehicle and the salesman doesn't say: "I hate you and never come back!" you left too much on the table. Period. Also remember: buying vehicles ain't about making friends.

I agree, and don't be afraid to make a scene about wanting your keys back on a trade and driving down the street to the next dealer. I had the guy try and get me to compromise on our last two vehicles so I just started dropping my price until he met it or walked outside. They always cave unless they can't make any money.

You must be a real A-hole to deal with. My 2013 XLT I got listed for $44,600 I got $12,000 off MSRP and did the deal over phone and email. Very easy to do with my dealer. As the sales guy got me on my way he thanked me for the business and said see you in 2 years when you buy again. I have bought several vehicles from him over the years.

This is exactly NOT the way to buy a vehicle. The dealer is entitled to a fair profit. You are entitled to a fair price. If both parties deal in that manner, then it works. If they don't, then it won't.

Some dealers are a-holes. Some salesmen at dealers are a-holes. And many customers are too. More customers are ill-informed, have no idea how to negotiate for a vehicle, don't know the invoice before they come in, fall for sales tactics that are used in every industry, etc.

Okay then, please educate us on how this works.

The invoice you posted is a little blurry so let's just say MSRP is $41,335.00 and it looks like invoice is $34,126.00. What is fair price?

I just negotiated over email with the internet salesman. I gave him an offer that I didn't think he would accept. The truck's sticker says $44,625 with a $2k discount on the equipment package. I asked for it for $34,625 and he said yes. Then they offered me $26k on my trade in and I said $27.5k. They came up to $27k and I said $27.5k. The asked me to come in so they could see the car and after walking around it, said okay. Nobody got upset and I'm returning my car to stock before I trade it in because they don't want the aftermarket parts and I can resell them.

As was mentioned before, deal with the internet salesman and give him a low-ball offer with no sense of urgency. Odds are you'll be able to come to an agreement that's a pretty good deal.
