Default Lucas fuel injector cleaner, cylinder lubricant

Just wondering if anyone uses lucas injector cleaner and your thoughts on it.I buy a 32 oz bottle at wal-mart for $10 and put it in every 3rd tank full. I put 6 oz in to 22 gallons of mobil gas.I dont know if it makes a diffrence. But for the $2 dollars a tank, why not. From the reviews i have read lucas products seem to be top notch.

Its good stuff for older motors... sub 1999..

but gas goes in gas tank... oil goes in oil pan..

No other additives just gets burnt up in seconds..... doesnt do much.
adding oil additives changes viscosity of the oil and you really have no idea what its doing..
besides.. gas has plenty of additives already..

But. i tried the infamous ZMAX in my 05 hemi ram i had and the hemi "tick" went away. so did my buddys 07 5.4 lifter tick.

but im not a fan of additives

Hmmm where to begin. To start things off I've tried Lucas fuel additives, and after no effects I went looking for something better. Your objectives like everyone else I assume are lubing the top end, fuel pump, and keeping things clean. Through MSDS sheets and Blackstone/ other analysis, Lucas really doesn't make the cut. There's really no cleaning agents (no solvent or PEA) so there's little cleaning going on. The consistency of Lucas makes you think it's lubing pretty good right? Analysis shows its consistency is of 20w oil. I did my own little experiment with a jar of gas and Lucas. I put it in at 1:500. When first pouring it in the product sinks to the bottom. Even after agitating the jar, some of the Lucas settled back down to the bottom. Taking it one step further, I marked how much had separated and put the jar in the freezer. After letting it get nice and cold I pulled it out and saw that even some more had fallen out of solution. This concerned me greatly that a thin layer of it would only be on the bottom of the tank during the winter.
What do I use in the fuel now? I've found a PEA based cleaner is the best at keeping the fuel system clean. Techron was the first to patent PEA and now there are several products that contain it and do a very good job. As for the top lube portion of what we're looking for, a TCW3 2-stroke fits the bill as well as anything. It's formulation is meant to burn ashless, so no cat contamination, and at 1 oz to 5 gallons is enough to lube the pump and top end. Its strong additive pack also helps clean when it enters the system.
The Lucas oil stabilizer, well it's gear oil. There's a lot more to oil than just being sticky. Here's a couple of good resources to all things oil and the use of TCW3.

Hi (or whatever yourr name is; grinn(
that LucaS oIL Stabilizer, well.... I do have an old BMW from 71; I do own it for 34 years now and the oilconsumption was rising abit When I overhauled the engine in1979, is did 1liter of oil on 5300km... two years ago it did 1:1200km.... With Lucas Oil St. it's 1:3300km! She run smoother and the choke can be out of duty very fast, even in winter. As official Dutch Lucas dealers, we are proud of what we sell and all the customers (even car mechanics and shop are on our list of satisfied people. That doesn't mean that I close my eyes for what you write. My truck runs on Lucas...

best regards Ton

I've recently used it on my 2003 F150. The stuff is great!

For example on my daily commute I was averaging 310-315 miles before my "low Fuel" light came on. This is baselined for over a year of watching when the light comes on (80% highway driving). I put a bottle in with a full tank and hit 340 before low fuel light. On next tank I was at 350.

I don't put a bottle in at every full tank fill (more like every other).
