Default hole in firewall behind gas pedal

Hi, my search still goes on for an F150. test drove a nice one today but noticed the hole behind gas pedal. I see its a factory hole and there was supposed to be a grommet there but it was just an open hole that I could see daylight through it.
Is it possible for water to get past that hole inside such as driving in the rain. Seems like the rain water splashing its way into engine area from the tires could make its way through. Then I would wonder if there is any rust starting below carpet or behind the firewall foam.

anyone run their trucks with that hole open and notice moisture getting in? thanks

Yes water can get in and yes you should plug it. The pervious owner may have had a stereo system in the truck and when removing the power cable to the amp that came out wish the power cable.

thanks, appreciate the photo and what it looks like from the engine compartment. I read some older posts about this and seems ford does not carrier that grommet. I guess one can get creative and do a makeshift plug for it out of something..

I'm sure any junk yard would have one.

If not, this may work.

YES, that looks like it sure would workl its tapered so looks like it would fit nicely and would wedge in place just fine. thank you so much. I am adding it to my cart now in case I end up buying that truck.
