Default Help with Timing

I just put a new 302 long block in my 1993 F-150. I need to know how to set the timing.Under the hood it says to start the motor and run until it reaches operating temp. Shut it off and unplug the IN LINE SPOUT CONNECTOR? Then restart ther motor and the timing will be set. Where do I find the in line spout connector? I can't find it in any books I have.

The spout connector is near the distributor. It's just a plug with no wires coming out of it. Removing it separates the contact of the wire that advances the timing. Once removed, you will still need to use a timing light to check and set the timing.

Exactly as Sean says, looks like the two wires are capped off, its a bridge connector, just unplug it.

Default spout connector

Is it possible that on my 95 150 5.0 that the spout connector is actually taped onto the wiring harness that plugs into the ICM?

It is possible but wasn't that way from the factory. Someone may have taped it up. It should be in one of the two locations mentioned. If the ICM is distributor mounted then it will be near the distributor. If it's mounted on the fenderwell then it probably is where SCOOB said. Mine is on the distributor so I know where it is but I haven't seen the remote mounted one.

Default got it ( i think)

Ok I see it now!
Helps to know what the heck I was looking for~~~~~LOL! Soooo, now I run the engine with the spout unplugged to set timing at 10deg before TDC. Then I shut off the engine, plug the connector back in and start the engine again. Correct?
I assume the ICM will do what it needs to do once the timing is set at 10 BTDC and the spout is plugged back in?
As of now, the truck runs great when first started and then after about 30seconds it starts idling rough, then eventually smooths out again. When I drive it, it pings a bit. Does that mean its lean? again thanks!

To fix any rough running problems you should start by checking the computer for codes. This thread will explain how:
https://www.f150forum.com/f10/how-retrieve-trouble-codes-obdi-10907/
Then set the timing. Start by running the truck until it reaches normal operating temperature. Turn it off and remove the spout connector. Hook up the light and restart the truck. Check and adjust the timing if needed. Turn off the truck and reconnect the spout connector. You then have to clear the computer of codes after setting timing because it will store a spout circuit open code. If you check for codes before setting timing you will get the current running condition codes but if you check after you will get those and the additional spout code.
