Angry HELP with radiator hose

I have a 1994 f150 4x4. I installed a 3 inch body lift and put a flex hose in place of the original bottom radiator hose. It only lasted for a week and smog pump rubbed hole in it. Put a second flex hose on and same thing happend. I resorted to making a hose out of several hoses and some old header pipe. This worked the best but after a 2 months it has failed also. Can anyone offer some real help. Dont need the sarcastic opinions just some real help. thanks.

wrap area or hose with a few rounds of duct tape (10mil electrical tape it better). ((this is to protect from sheet metal edge)) cut strip of sheet metal a couple inches wide. Make it long enough to wrap around the hose twice. wrap loosely around area that gets rubbed. (leave room fo hose to expand a little so it won't cut hose) Secure with duck tape.
NOTE: must be in a rather straight area of hose to work well.
Hope this helps. If it is in a curve you can sometimes use the plastic flexible cutting boards to do the same thing.
wrap sheet metal around a plastic glass, soda can...first to get cylinder shape started. This will make it a lot easier to install around hose.

Use a flexable hose but route it away from the smog pump. Take some steel rod and bend it into the shape that you want the flex hose to keep and tape it to the hose. This will act as a spine for the hose and keep it from changing shape. When measuring for the hose length do not forget to add 3 inches for the lift and a few more for it to flex around the obstacle.

TheJMC has a better (and more correct) way to accomplish this...
