Spending that kind of $$$ on a retrofit just for light is insane.

I'd stick to the OEM Projectors personally.
I don't see any reputable unbiased 3rd party comparison done to justify the expense.
OEM headlights from ford are about $820 a piece, so a pair is roughly $1640. A retrofit with upgraded projectors and better lighting from Bilinvic starts at $1340. How is that retarded pricing?

Of course the more upgrades you get, the more it will cost though.

Thank y'all for the insight. I'll have to save up a little more money to do the retrofits, a little higher than I had planned on.

Keep your eye out, you may find a good deal. I got lucky with getting a used kit for cheap, and sent it off to get RF'ed. I have just under $500 for the kit, labor, and new HL's. (I screwed up my set trying it myself.)

Retrofit in halogen housings start at 1340. If you want oem hid's it's a lot higher than that mostly based upon the upgrades included in the base pricing. TRS sells the oem hid's for just over a grand. If you are happy with the stock projector and output... they are much cheaper.

Correct, but I can pretty much bet that the retrofit in the halogen housing will still put out a better output and cutoff than the OEM headlights from Ford.

This is true. Very true. Waiting for my set is absolutely murder for me... I'm ready to be night killer man, the shining beacon in the dark! The dark will fear the super clear and bright light from.... NIGHT KILLER MAAAAAAN!

those lights use absolutely GARBAGE projectors, lens (optics) etc.

When you buy something like an evo, fxr or s2000/tsx projector it is a QUALITY projector which very good clear lens.

If you can DIY, you can retrofit a set of FXR 3.0s for under $300. or if you want something really easy but not as good light output but still a really good projector, a mini-h1 can be done for around $240.

This is mine last one (3" FXR 3.0, running at 50w instead of 35w and blacked out housing with a gunmetal shroud) and im into this for $350 said and done.

there is no way in hell i would pay any of those guys $1500 to retro a set of lights. they do great work but its really not that hard and the parts are not expensive.

I agree with you schissler, the only thing that worries me is "baking" my headlights to break the seal.

nothing to worry about! you cant melt them unless you forget about them for 30 minutes or something. i baked mine at 280* for about 7 minutes then pulled them out to start prying them open, needed to put them back in 2-3 more times for 1-2 minutes and they come apart really easy.

Before i started my retro i went on Kijiji (craigslist or whatever) and found another set of heads for $100... I put those on my truck while i worked on the retro over the weekend so i could still use my truck. once i was done and they were tested i baked those ones i bought, blacked them out and sold them again!
