HELP! Buying first F-150 TOMORROW!
Hey folks,
I've been a "Jeep dude" for a long time but have decided to make the switch to a 2013 F-150 XLT Supercrew.
The reason is that I bought a house, need something more utilitarian, and also need more room for my kid (new dad here).
I'm going with the 5.0 V8 for sure. I don't haul anything heavy and don't need the ecoboost.
So my question is, "What should I look for when making the purchase?"
Are there any common issues or concerns with this year/model/trim -- or should I be OK regardless.
Thanks and appreciate any feedback or experience you have to share.

I own a 2013 F150 Lariat which I purchased new. It has the 5.0 V8 and I am beyond pleased with it. I just came back from a 25 day trip from Alberta to Ontario and logged 10,000 trouble free kms. Good power, good performance, and the SuperCrew has space to spare. It was a very comfortable ride. I've never owned a Jeep so I cannot compare, but I believe the F150 will be a solid, reliable all around vehicle for you.
The F150 Im buying has about 27K on the clock.
Thanks again!

Looks like the 36,000 mile mark will be an issue before the 3 years is up, so....take a look at some providers out there that offer ford warranty. Try floodfordesp.com. just throw in your info about the truck and then compare all the different plans available with different deductibles. Take that info with you to the dealer and see if they can do better or match it. You don't really have to do anything tomorrow about a warranty. You have some time to shop but don't wait too long. The more miles you rack up, the plan prices might go up a bit also. You won't be sorry with the purchase. Congrats and good luck!

I traded a 2013 Rubicon Unlimited last month for a 2014 Screw FX4, couldn't be happier. Jeep was fine, but, limited room, was great crawling over rocks, but didn't get to do that everyday. FX4 is more comfortable, more room, and better fit/finish I believe.

Since you are looking for used See if you can find a Certified truck. That extends the warranty. For example I picked up a 2011 Certified with 38k miles and have 7 year 100k powertrain. The bumper to bumper is only 12 month 12k from certification but still not too bad. Oh and that also guarantees you get 2 keys plus 3 month of sirius.

The 5.0 is a solid engine. I have two, one in my F-150 and one in the Wifey's Mustang. Both are at approx 18K miles with no problems. Both have been on cross country trips, with very respectable mpg's. As said, if you thinking of an extended warranty, Flood Ford online is cheaper than buying through your local dealer. Same genuine Ford ESP. These trucks are solid performers, you will be happy. Ask the dealer if he will check the service records on the truck to make sure nothing serious has happened in the past.

Dude if you don't get 11k off the MSRP you need to walk. The 5.0 are going for pretty cheap around me 11-13k off msrp.
