Default HELP!!! 2001 ford f150 5.4 triton question

Hey guys, I just bought a 2001 Ford f150 crew cab lariat, 4x4, with the triton v8. The truck has 77,000 miles, I'm worried about the head gasket problem, here are the compression numbers...

Cylinder PSI
1 148
2 145
3 140
4 143
5 139
6 144
7 145
8 145

What do you think? Could this be the head gasket? Also what spark plugs should I use?

Thanks

Agreed, numbers look fine. As far as plugs, I would go with motorcraft.

You just gun-shy or is it giving you a reason to question it?

If it runs good then I think you should be fine. Numbers are good, just use motorcraft parts for plugs and wires and you should be fine.

Your Bosses point of view has merrit. His thinking is the numbers so close together on 6-7-8. Unless this thing runs absolutely horrible believe the numbers are good and not any leakage between cylinders. Its really nice to see numbers with in 10% of each other. If there is still a question, suggest doing a leak down check. That will eliminate the head gasket question. Sure hope you are on good terms with the Boss, questioning his judgement is risky.

Spark plugs removed, air is applied through the plug hole and a second gauge will read what pressure doesn't leak out. The advantage of the leak down test is you can tell where the leakage is. The intake valve, the exhaust valve or into the crankcase past the rings. If air is put into #7 and comes out #8 plug hole the gasket is bad.
