Guys, I need help fast!
I found a truck for sale, it's an f150 7700 series. It's not in terrible shape, average rust but it has high miles. 176,000. Is this too many miles for the 5.4 motor, or could I still get another year or two out of it?

It's been my experience that the 5.4 is nothing but headaches one way or another. I wouldn't buy one.

Also, the reason I'm in a rush is because this guy said he is tight for money, so if it isn't sold by tonight, he's gonna scrap it. I just don't want to get screwed. Thanks!

I think you just answered your own question "so if it isn't sold by tonight, he's gonna scrap it" My fist thought would be run.

It depends do you know this guys personally? If not it could be the truth or could be a scam. If the guy REALLY needs the money I could see him having few options but to scrap it.
However, most likely the truck has some issue with it that isn't totally apparent and he's trying to dump the truck on you quickly. See if he'll let you take it to a reputable shop to have it looked at. If he'll let you, it may not be a scam and the dude may just be in a tight spot. The auto-shop guys will let you know.
If he won't let you take it to a shop and keeps insisting he's pressed for time or has other buyers it's likely a scam and not worth it.
P.S. I like the 5.4s as long as it's one before 2004. After 03, I personally wouldn't buy one. Every engine is different and maintenance plays a huge part in longevity. I have seen in person a 5.4 with over 400,000 miles on it. Would i expect this truck to get that many miles? No way. It may be ready to kick the bucket or may have a long way to go. The transmission is also something to look at. 177,000 miles is a lot miles for that trans but once again it's hit or miss how long it will last. Maintenance and not abusing the truck play a huge role on longevity. If it's running fine it should last you a while but if this guy keeps rushing you to sign papers i'd look the other way.

me1234 it's an 02, and I doubt this matters, but I'm 17, have been looking for a truck, and can't afford a new one with 20,000 miles on it. I expect to drive a P.O.S for a little while, I just don't want it to fall apart half way between work and home.

What's the asking price?

I'd be tempted to offer him scrap price. (do you know how much his scrap offer was). Then your exposure is very low. and he has already told you he is ready to scrap it.
