To play the devil's advocate for a moment, When this happens, does it do it when you are say: driving down a flat road, no wind, and between 32-41 MPH? you let off the throttle as you might be coasting up to a stop sign?
P.S. Does the "problem" quit the instant you depress the brake pedal enough to activate the brake lights?

I'd rather be sailing.
For what it is worth,
I was towing our TT through Seattle North bound on I5.
I was changing lanes and accelerating to match the traffic in the new lane when my throttle stuck.
I reached down grabbed the floor mat and pulled it back a little.
Problem solved.
Not to say that is your issue but it might be worth a look!

I cant imagine that the actual gas pedal sticks because its electronic and there is only a wire attached to the end of it not a throttle cable check the throttle body, unplug the harness going to it to see if there is any corrosion in which case you need a new male or female fitting, also doesnt hurt to disassemble the throttle body and make sure its clean which is only another 4 bolts and its off the intake manifold.

^^^ Of course it can stick. Anything that binds the linkage and stops it from returning fully will cause throttle input. It's just via wires instead of cable.
I too had it catch on carpet and it was stuck wide open. There was no fixing it from the driving position. Thankfully traffic wasn't bad as I was doing 90 before I turned the engine off and coasted to the side of the road. I had to get out to fix it. It's neat that the power steering still worked with the engine not running.

i had a few replies that went to my spam and did not show up on this forum so i just wanted to answer them,my truck has the rubber floor covering with no floor mats and i know its all electronic now i guess i should say the rpms stay at 1500-1800 for along time after i let my foot off the gas at 5-10 mph it also shifts into second gear by itself with my foot off the gas.this is my work truck my boss says leave it alone i find it very annoying, i used to get 15.9 mpg now with this problem i am getting 14 mpg,i was going to trade my 2012 tacoma in for a nice f150 short bed but not if the tec says "they all do it".

It needs to be connected to a computer or scanner of sorts to know where the problem lies. You can get all sorts of information including TPS condition.
