Gas Mileage Eco/Alum. body

Still under 1000 miles and currently getting 21.4 with 40% city and 60% highway.
Been trying to keep the RPMs below 2000 unless needed to join traffic flow.
Would probably be better with real gas as Indiana likes adding ethanol to everything, think its at least 5%.

At 1200 miles I started using ethanol free fuel (87 octane) and noticed a jump to 22 mpg average. At 2000 miles is when the mpg jumped again while on same oil and using same fuel. I'm going to change the oil again at 4000 miles (3200 miles for current oil change) and will change every 4000 miles afterwards.
I'm paying 2.69gal for ethanol free 87 octane but if I get over 2 mpg average over regular gas with 10% ethanol then I'll come out ahead in my opinion in both fuel mileage and fuel system overall. Ethanol attracts a crap load of moisture and breaks down quicker.
Let me know if I'm on the wrong trail.

My fuel mileage is still increasing, 24 mpg seems to be my average and again 70% town miles.. still not close to breakin period. We're going on vacation this week with the 4runner so it will be a gap in my findings with the f150 2.7, but will post after its driven from work and highway miles tacked on. Sofar this engine is surpassing my expectations.

Platinum R.R.
Mu 2015 3.5 Eco FX4 Platinum gets about one or so better has mileage than my 2014 3.5 Eco. Lariat.
It seems a lot quicker off the line and lighter on the Highway.
Please remember these are large heavy trucks. You can't have both?
My 2012 FX4 & the 2014 4x4 3.5 have Never been beat off the line by any Dodge Hemi, Chevy trucks or any 4 series B.M.W.
Got beat by a Lexus S.U.V.
I'm from the Sixty's Muscle Car era.
I don't want to hear I shouldn't Race. It's only off the Line. I'm 68 going on 69.
I'm going to baby this one. It's Ruby Red.
Enjoy your ride.

My 2016 2.7 F150XL is getting 23.7 mpg (my figures) after 1770 miles of mixed city and highway. The trip meter says it is is averaging 24 mpg. The average speed on the trip computer is about 35 mph.
I installed a tonneau cover which Consumer Reports claims (based on their driving tests of a Dodge Ram) reduces mileage by nearly 1mpg. Don't want to do without the cover though.

Me too based upon some of the other reading I've done. I read a few articles about how the cover is supposed to improve the aerodynamics and other such double talk which in the end was just a non-answer so that the purchaser would be confident that the brand of cover they bought was going to save them money in the low run.

No way I'm going to run around with an open bed when I got guns or other property in the back; it's going to be covered period.
If I get 24 mpg and the cover costs me 4% mileage, that adds up to about $420 extra in gas the first 100k miles or about $42 a year the way I drive. I'll find a way to get over it.

With the tailgate up and no tonneau, we got 22.3 mpg. Dropping the tailgate decreased efficiency to 21.5 mpg. That 4-percent difference means that driving the Ram all year exclusively on the highway could cost the owner an extra 20 gallons of gasoline. (In reality, this big workhorse is likely to see a mix of driving and a variety of chores, limiting the potential penalty.)
We found that covering the bed with a soft tonneau cover was even more detrimental, dropping fuel economy to 21.4 mpg.

The very best I've ever achieved has been 20, and those were pretty much ideal conditions.
Running on the flats, on interstate, at 70 mph, more or less unleaded, with a 8 ft Leer topper on the pickup, with 4x4, 3.73 rear, Supercab, 2014 model year, and 3.5L Eco, I get between 18 and 19 usually. However, if I slow down to 55 - 60 mph, I will gain about 1.5 mpg.
Pulling my 4950# trailer, I will get between 8.5 and 10, depending on terrain and speed.

Hello, just purchased a new 16 F150 XLT 4x4 Sport 2.7L EcoBoost. I kind of feel ripped off after seeing the above averages. I have put on about 200 miles and I am averaging just over 14 mpg. I was hoping I would at least come close to 18 or get somewhat better mileage from my Toyota which averaged 17.
as some engine get better mpg with lower rpm .use cruise control as much as can.cause sometimes people dont realize they are pushing peddle up and down while driving .as new vehicles most are electric feul pedals where older once were cable. More sensitive .

yup
[QUOTE=Tekneols;4821580]Just did a trip from Houston to el paso averaging 80 mph on the highway. I was getting around 24mph from Houston to San Antonio, it went down fast once we got into the hill country and my wife started driving, caught her doing around 95mph a few times. We had about 4 stops on the way with at least 10 minutes of the truck sitting at iddle. By the time we got to el paso we were at 19.9 average mpg.
2017 supercrew sport
2.7 ecoboost
3.55 gears.

Different in sea level to mountain will change feul mileage
as air gets thinner feul mpg drop .is like any vehicles . Once you get back to your normal driving area where your vehicle ran good ,it should come back .could be feul your pickup may be less than 87 or got some water in it . Even diesel engines have trouble as some feul companies sale BIo feuls and those will drop mpg too. ,flex feul pickups can burn most types of feul but runs best on 87 octane.
