Unhappy Fusible Links

This is the first time I had posted a question on this site. I hope that someone is able to help me find a solution with this problem. I own a 1986 Ford F-150 Truck, 5.0. The problem that I'm having is that one day my truck had gone belly up, I had started my truck as always, after I had started my truck it ran for a minute and died. I watied for a bit and attempted to restart my truck, no such luck. I had checked my solenid and discovered that a wire was loose, tightened it and attempted to restart again, still nothing. Had attempted to jump start it, had a good charge, still nothing. I had asked my older brother, and a few other people, and thay all said the same thing, check your fusible links, well 4 people can't be wrong . So, I checked my fusible links, removing them from the post on the solenoid, discovered that one of my fusible was bad. One was a 18Ga., and the other was a 20Ga. I had gone to the nearest O'Riley's and bought replacement links. Well, I'm still dead in the water . I'm at my wits end, and don't know what else to do It just makes me , not knowing what else to do. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could give me a solution to this problem, I can also be reached at my e-mail address: spartan2400@live.com Thank You.
Sincerely
Thomas Hernandez

Ok, so the engine is not turning at all, first check earth lead to the engine, second check starter motor. Let's know how you get on after that!

Angry Fusible Links {Still Dead In The Water}

Well, I had taken the starter off and had it tested at my local automotive store, it passed . I also checked all of the fuses, all fuses are good . Also, replaced the fusible links that were bad, not getting a reading with the multimeter. I'm not getting any sort of electrical reading , no radio, lights, nothing at all. I also, had taken a piece of heavy wire, had gone from the + of the battery, and touched on of the small posts of the solenoid, it clicked, telling me that it was good. Still nothing, I've been racking what's left of my brain, and still can't seem to figure it out. I'm open for any suggestions, or ideas. Thank You.

OK, next thing to try if it is an automatic the the switch on the transmission may be faulty (link the two wires to confirm) if it is a stick shift same goes for the switch on the clutch lever!! Good luck!!

Up, and running. I've tried everything that was suggested tome before I had recieved a reply from "wbstaz". I guess, with all the frustration that I was going through, I decided to have it towed to a local automotive shop. The problem was that when I had replaced the new solenoid, the wires {fusible links} were placed on the wrong post. Go, figure! I had placed them on the new one the same way I had taken off the old one, not to mention that "Good Old Bill" was right, it was a bad ground. AS! it was, it was something simple, that killed me. It's difficult to think straight when in a corner, it only cost me, $35.50, expensive, but not that bad. I just want to Thank you for all your, input on this matter.
None-the-less, if I ever run into the same situation again, I’ll know what to do, Thanks Again.
Sincerely
Thomas Hernandez
