I developed a passion for not being on the side of the road, so yes I do have a passion for my trucks. All three are Fords. I've owned or drove about every brand and my experience with Chevy was enough for one to never have my name on the title of one again. The last good Chevy I owned was the mid 80's S10. The 94 I bought ate more parts than it was made from in 54k miles. It needed a rear shock, motor mount, abs control module, and the rear high mounted brake light tried to melt itself before I traded it in on a Toyota truck. Honestly, the only vehicles I'll own would be a Toyota or a Ford. I rarely turn a wrench on them other than oil changes and they take the abuse I throw at them. I need a truck than can be hotrodded, worked hard, and still hold together. Chevy can make some pretty vehicles but, I rarely got to look at the rest of it with the hood up in my line of sight due to it being broken down. I've owned between 20-30 vehicles, several being GM's. I found it funny in my early years of driving I had 5 GM trucks to Dad's one 65 Ford truck with a service body. Dad was never kind to that truck. It hit things it should have never hit and survived. Put a newer caddy in the junk yard when it rear-ended him. We just pulled the bed off the back of the cab and put new bolts in it and the bumper. I finally noticed that old iron was out lasting all of my newer trucks and quit buying the pretty GM's after 94 s10. His company truck was an old 79 Toyota. I hated that truck, but it too took abuse like it was standard treatment. Leaked oil like a sift but it wouldn't die. He tried to kill it, other than oil leaks, it just went on. Just a piece of advise form an old guy who uses his trucks and prefers not to work on them unless it makes them faster or more useful. Don't look for the ones that made 300k and still looks pristine. Look for the ones that have 300k that look like they just left a war zone. Those are the well made trucks, especially when they still crank and don't smoke.

Didn't even realize they're out on dealers lots now. Haven't seen any drive around yet. I'll probably go check them out sometime soon because I like to look at trucks regardless of brand. My truck will not be going anywhere though

Unique & Different
cegan1825 Same here too. I look at all trucks. Especially if they look good. For that matter of fact, I look at everything anyways. (Cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, big rigs) I like them all. I enjoy seeing eye candy in all makes and models. :-)

Funny thing was, about five minutes after I read your comment, I was filling up with gas when "Holiday Road" started playing. Started laughing as it reminded me of the comment. What would have been the icing on the cake would be if one of those new Silverados had pulled up to the gas station when that song was playing.

I couldn't put my finger on it, but you're right, it does look like the front end of the Clark Griswald's station wagon.

Funny when I read that posters comment earlier I thought the same thing and all it's missing now is the wood paneling and of course as you say holiday road...Best movie evar!...Well not really but still good.

Saw the new silverado z71 at the dealership, won't say it looks too bad, looks like a truck, what else do you want?
Underneath looks like the same old, couldn't see too much but I saw the same poorly applied rust coating on the frame that formed dried drips everywhere.
Interior looks like its got high quality leather, and ditched cheap looking plastics.
Exterior front virtually has no large gaps and quite a few aerodynamic tweaks around the truck.
Wasn't too impressed with the rear tailgate handle as it was partially stuck and hard to open. Not a good sign for quality.
If it beats the f150 in payload, towing and mpg I would consider it.

Looked at a 14 Sierra at the dealership the other day (at night so didn't get to sit in it or anything). I was amazed how low to the ground that sucker was for a 4x4. Otherwise not much to comment on. Wasn't hideous looking but not anything special that makes me go "Wow". Found out that only the crew cab 5.3s are being released now though. Extended cabs won't be out for another two months, and that's what I was interested in looking at. See how they compare to Ram's quad cabs. Plus I think Ford will be following suit with the next remodel. Suicide doors on extended cabs will be a thing of the past very soon on all full-size trucks I think.

I owned 9 trucks over the years, started with Fords from when I was 20 years old. Had 4 of those trucks. I left Ford in 2005 when the last F-150 I had was an 2004 model with a 5.4 V8 that seemed like it couldn't get out of its own way and getting around 13 mpg. I seen better potential at the time in Chevy's, and my first couple of Silverado's where pretty good back then, had one 4.8 L which never got less then 17 mpg, then I got a 5.3L, the mileage only went down to 15-16, and then I got my last Chevy in 2011, another 5.3L and it was getting 14-15 mpg. Now anyone that buys a full size truck for mileage is a fool, that is why Ford makes a Focus! But with the mileage never getting better, their old designs on the market forever I went back to look at Ford. I can tell you it Ford still ran the 5.4 I had, I would not even have looked. I would have looked at a Dodge first. Yes a Dodge, even though I swore those junk trucks off long ago I admit they have come a long ways this decade. In my opinion even surpassing the 2013 and prior Silverado's. However after seeing a Ford's interior and driving one. I was sold! Best riding truck I have ever had and the 5.0 I absolutely love! So far getting around 17 mpg and am thrilled. Glad to be back in a Ford!
