Not exactly "per manual" but per my post in my thread LOL. Great thread BTW, I haven't been here much lately and "forscan" is definitely great news, Sub'd!

Finally something like Ross-Tech's VAG-COM or VCDS. VW auto group communication. The program is free but the OBD 2 to USB cable with builtin licensing costs around $300 and allows for real time parameter monitoring/logging, control module recording (fold mirror with fob lock, close windows and roof if car is locked and window is open and the rain sensor detects "rain") new key fob matching.....

Must one use the Windows version of the FORscan app to accomplish these things? The iOS version of the app is tagged as "Lite", so I don't expect that to work...

But what about the Android version of the FORscan app? Can it be used to accomplish these "tweaks"?

Here is a post I made in the now seemingly defunct sticky thread....

Now a successful veteran of getting this to work after several dead ends, here are my net observations from experience and reading posts... I think they represent a majority view, if any such thing exists on a forum:

1. Surest way to maximize capability is to go Windows and MX BT (NOT WiFi!)

2. If you do not happen to have a modern or working BT on your computer, add the USB BT device in post #320 for $12.88. With it I can move it from my laptop to my workhorse desktop as I wish

3. The free (for right now) enhanced license FORScan for PC gives the most capability over Androd or "lite" versions, at least for right now......sorry Apple folks, tough getting things to work in your world.

4. Although the cheaper SX option will work with seemingly limited capability, I really LIKE that I can sit in my house with the Platinum in the garage and do the fiddling over BT.....especially great for folks that live in heat and/or do not want to be tethered by a cable and Laptop in their vehicle

5.Update your Sync to the latest version per my post #424 before your first mod.

6.Use the helpful EXCEL spreadsheet from Livnitup on post #565 to easily find some of the most desirable changes

Keep the findings coming, but maybe putting all this reflection into a single post will help newbies get a less confusing picture of how to best do this.....

If it takes a village, we must be a Metropolitan Area!!
Thanks Everyone

Lite's don't do what we need. And don't have the latest updates.. Take the advise from those that have tried the cheaper short cuts.. Get the MXBT and use it with a Windows laptop via Bluetooth. Using the latest Forscan beta release.. Heck if you have a Windows desktop within BT range of your truck you can do it that way.. Just more walking required to power cycle the truck after making changes..

I posted the following in the defunct sticky thread as well if it helps anyone:

I finished mapping out all the FORScan PID changes for the BCM module and documented the addresses in a spreadsheet. Below is a link to that spreadsheet for anyone interested. It is only useful for those looking to find new, undocumented features in the BCM module who want to know which addresses are already spoken for and to concentrate their testing to different addresses. The build data shown is my 2016 truck (info in signature) and while the spreadsheet lists the FORScan PIDs, I'm not making any claim to whether that PID actually does what it says. I simply applied the PIDs listed and documented which address it changed and the values.

Edit: It would be great if a Mod could make this thread a sticky since the other one is hidden from view & closed

This is great information! I agree-- having a step-by-step in one post like this, is SUPER helpful! Thanks!

Just have to ask one more question about the Android aspect, since I have a father who intended to do this with an Android (or thought he could)... What exactly are the limitations with Android? Is the Android app also tagged "Lite" like the iOS? Or are some superuser, advanced modifications not possible?

The Android version is also Lite. With Android/iOS FORScan apps you are limited to the built-in PIDs built into the app so you have to rely on future updates containing new abilities to make changes that we may find here with testing using the Windows FORScan app. The Windows FORScan app allows us to manually edit our truck's as-built data whereas the Android/iOS apps do not.

I am CERTAIN it was all the NAV stuff that pushed things over the line. I understand Ford's wanting to defend their and dealers' revenue from NAV, so I was just waiting 'till the sticky went bye bye.....smile.... AZPLAT

PS.... especially to newbies.....rather than (or in addition to) posting a thanks message, just remember to hit the "Thanks" icon on the lower right to give authors of helpful posts recognition for their contributions..... just saying....

So all the information that was in the sticky thread is now just gone?? Anyone know for sure who caused it to be pulled?

It's there but hidden; you can still see it by doing a manual link to it. I went into "my posts" from top pull down menu and was able to still see it.
