Default Eco vs 5.0

I was contacted by the dealer that sold me my 09 screw XLT. They are offering me more for my 09 then book value. There is nothing wrong with it, but I'm open to upgrading FX4 if the deal is right! I've heard alot of squeaking about poor performance with the Eco boost.

Yes! I suppose I should have worded my post I little better. I've seen the specs I'm looking for opinions on the 2 engines. I'm hearing less then wonderful words on the Eco. I use the truck daily. I tow light landscape and Jon boat trailers with the occasional need to tow my mustang.

McDeez

You just need to spend a couple evenings reading all the posts already written about the differences and problems with each engine. Starting another post won't get you anymore info than has already been provided by hundreds of replies to other posts given over the past year.

No one can tell you what is right for you to buy. Read and decide for yourself.

I have a 2011 XLT crew Eco 4x4 3.55 gear with 6.5 bed. It has alot of power and good mpg. I'm getting 17 mpg that's about 50% city and 50% highway driving. If I go straight highway I get 20 to 21 mpg. I think that's pretty damn good for the power u get from the ecoboost engine. It seems like the 3.73 gears are getting lower mpg around 15mpg...can't say for sure but that's just from what I've heard and read. Also, yeah some people are having problems with the truck but anyone can have problems with their new truck, v8 or Eco, just depends if u got a good one or bad one I guess lol. I'm sure there nothing wrong with the v8 it just depends what u will be happy with...don't get anything ur not 100% sure bout. That's all just my point of view.

Kind of Vague...I guess I can say that my EcoBoost doesn't "squeak"...but really, a long test drive in both (EB...5.0L) or all four engines (3.7L...6.2L) would be a good place to start start. They all perform fine from what I have heard and experienced. They even all get respectable MPG considering they are trucks.

Some of the threads I've read, have confused me! I have read that the Eco isn't getting the MPG it's advertising! Spkspk 67 pointed out something I hadn't thought about with the gearing! I have also read that the shift point from 5 to 6 is very concerning with some Eco owners. I understand when you buy a truck there are no guarantees that she wont have her issues. I've been through it myself, I would like to eliminate the possibility of going through that headache again! Thank you for you help
