Default Tire sizes that fit stock F-150 4x4 FX4

I have a 2003 FX4 and want to put a size bigger tire on the stock '17 rims. Can I go to a 285/70/17 and it not rub? Any help here would be great.

Thanks,

You can do a 33/12.5/r17 without rubbing or if you do a 2" level, you can fit 35/12.5's.

285's measure 32.7" so yeah, they are just a hair smaller. IIRC, a 295 is a metric measurement for a 33" tire.

Thanks alot Lynn.
Big help. . I can't wait to get them on the truck, I think it will really inprove the look. I am going with the Nitto Terra Grapplers, any thought on them?

First time on here and I am sure I will use many times again

Terra Grapplers tend to be a popular choice at first and then alot of people tend to regret them when they have to be replaced after <30k miles. They tend to not do as well off road in mucky conditions as BFG A/T's.

IMHO, there are much better tires out there. I don't have any personal experience with them though. Just reading reviews from this site, I would look elsewhere.

Dont feel bad man, when i read the post i immidiately thought 295's and then i saw 33" and didnt know what to think.

But i wouldnt want to push it with 295's. I think they look too crowded with a stock truck. I have a 2wd and i have the 275/70/17's. They are not crowding the fender wells like a 285 would but they look nice and fill up the empty space. If i had a 4wd stock i would go with 285's
