Finally bought one....

He got 20K for his trade (a 5 year aold truck with almost 70K) and paying 20K for a new truck. Like he said, finding an XL that met his needs was hard to do in his area. If he is happy with the deal he got, then why are half the people here saying he got a bad deal and half saying good deal? It always comes down to those few that think they ALWAYS get a better deal than everyone else in the world and try and rain on the parade of the people who they think didnt get a good deal. Some people want a certain monthly payment. In the end if he knew exactly what he got on his trade (which he did) and the invoice of the new truck and it met his monthly need then where is the problem?

He made the dealer happier than he is happy haha. I don't dissagree with you if he is happy and found what he wants good for him just trying to help him out in the future if he is interested in learning how to get better deals and be a more informed consumer dealing by monthly payments is a very bad way to do it

Several dealers would only allow me 15,500. for my 2010. I have good credit because I can pay my bills and don't want a giant payment. The platinum is nice. But I can live with an XL. At some point the salesman slaps down the scratched on piece of paper with the numbers on it. And unfortunately I finance and don't pay it in full like so many here seem to do.
So the size of the payment will come into play at some point. This is a learning forum I believe and hope others looking to upgrade and trade may learn from thoses who are better then others at negotiating.
I bought the truck from Rowe in Auburn Nassty,

Sure maybe they gave you 5,000 more for your trade in. But they only took off 880 of list price of the truck which isn't to much at all it should be more like 5,000 off list. They could add another year to financing 72 months to make the payment look better. They have lots of little tricks to make you think you are getting a deal its best to look at the complete picture when shopping for a truck. I hate it when they ask me what kind of payment am I looking for its non of there business. Know what your trade is worth and what kind of deal you can get on the new truck before you even go in.

Good deal or not is objective. But finding a dream car and meet all your needs is subjective.
Unless you are at that dealership, in that location, pricing that truck, on that day, with those options, with exactly the same financial qualifications, then stating that it was a good deal or bad deal is an opinion, not an objective statement. Purely a WAG, completely subjective.
But finding a dream car that meets all your needs is objective.
Stainless, you did well under the conditions I outlined, enjoy your new truck.
BTW, what do you do with a "snow plow prep"?

I believe there have been issues with the electronics when a plow is added, kinda like a human transplant , when the body says -this an't mine-so I'm rejecting it. The F150 computer would recognize 'something' was wrong and shut off the headlight power for instance. Then the computer at the dealer would have to be reset. Ford did have a service bulletin and code for the reset. ($90. bucks), but with the snow plow prep package, a switch on the dash is clicked and the computer accepts the transplant. Ford fixed the issue. A bigger alternator also possibley for extra juice.
I'm sure someone will have a more precise answer of what it is.

What I meant is, what is a snow plow for?
It's going to be 103° here today, but you never have to shovel the heat.
