F150 Vs Tundra, Why buy?

Toyota is a good truck, friend has the loaded limited. nice truck, short bed on it (lame). There dated. They never update there trucks, its been the same look for a decade. Safety wise its solid by iihs.org standards. Compare the Toyota against the Nissan. You compare Ford against Chevy. When I think of Toyota i think of the camry and sienna mini-van. No rice burner in my driveway. Sorry if that offends anyone but FORD TRUCKS go together like baseball and apple pie and the American flag.

I have no brand loyalty... i buy what I like. I compared the Fully Loaded Toyota Limited to the fully loaded FX4 and the Ford had a much nicer interior and exterior style (imho). However, the Toyota was a little smoother when driving suspension wise (niether felt like a rollerskate). I ended up with the FX4 with the ecoboost as the price was right and I liked the interior more.

0.9% is for suckers!
I have owned both. A 2008 Tundra Crew 5.7 Limited 4x4 (all options) and several F150s.
The style has been the same since 2007. No major changes in any way to any part of the Tundra. In 2008 it was relatively new in design and was kind of cool/different. I took a cross country trip to pick up a few motorcycles and hauled a 20ft trailer 1500 miles and loaded 3 bikes up and towed em back. Not sure of the mileage, but truck performed flawlessly. 5 years ago it was sweet.
F150 - I'm partial to the SuperDuties, but this is my second recent F150 and hands down, the F150 has more/better styling and creature comforts over the Tundra. Everything from the heated/cooled seats (you have to get the Platinum on the Tundra I believe) to rear seat/floor space, the Sony NAV is light years ahead of the Tundra too. Info system, Nav/Display/ etc is all top notch.
My friend has a 2011 Tundra Limited and tells me he is looking for a new F150 now. He is lucky to see 14 mpg over a tank in his Crew Cab 4x4 5.7.
I think the Tundra needs to step up a bit and do some retooling on the design like they do the Camry and others. It needs a face lift.

dumb dumb
Both will make you happy happy happy. The Tundra with the 5.7 and its 6speed transmission just work so good that is is a blast to pull through the gears in it compared to my 5.4 with 3:55 gears. The Ecoboost with the 3:73 or the 6.2 with the 3.73 will give similar performace and keep up with the Tundra but any other combo will disapoint when compared to the 5.7 . I say drive both and at the end of the day the Ford has the nicer truck but no one can say the Toyota is junk because it is a very good American made product.

No matter which truck you like, no matter if more of it is made here or there in the end if you buy American you support an American company. When you buy foreign you support a foreign co, and I'm personally trying not to support foreign co's. There is to much of this country being sold off or given away to foreign investors and companies for my taste, without equal trade practices being enforced. Just my opinion, but I'm personally fed up.
Rant over. (If you want to call it that)

I honestly dont care where its made, I care that is has the weakest chassis design of all the half tons by a long shot. The only reason they sell is because they stuck a powerful engine in them and they appeal to those that dont realize that there way more to a truck than how fast it will take the 1/4 mile. HP is nothing if you cant use it because youre afraid to hook anything to the bumper. Oh, yeah, and they look like a whale that washed up on the beach that has been bloating in the sun for a few weeks. lol

Tundras are plagued with AIP failures and can be 1 to 4k to fix. They usually fail just out of warranty so if you live in a state with emissions testing you could end up with an expensive bill. Toyota has been pretty relentless to sticking it to their customers. They finally just extended the warranty but I'd expect the same too little too late treatment on the rest of the truck.

the frames on the tundra are weak. they are boxed at the front, reinforced c channel under the cab and standard c channel under the bed. theres a ton of flex in it...the beds bounce around like crazy on the freeway.
my dad has an 07 crewmax 4x4 with the 5.7. its had 2 transmissions and 2 driveshafts and its still plagued with vibration and shudder issues that toyota said is normal after they replaced those parts. plus his truck gets about 11 mpg mixed driving. about 8 towing our boat.
