Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase a truck within the next month or 2. I have narrowed it down to between an F150 fully loaded Lariat, either 6.2 or 5.0, and the Tundra Limited fully loaded. I am currently doing my research on both vehicles and am posting on here and on a tundra forum to see what you guys think. Why is the F150 better? What do you like about them? Or are they just that close that whoever has the better deal iss the one I should buy? Thank you all for all your input in advance.

I bought my F150 over a Toyota for several reasons.
-With Toyota if you wanted longer box (like I did) you gave up cab space.
- If you wanted more cab space you gave up box length. With my F150 I got both cab and box.
-Also 5.0 spec'ed better that Toyota. I didnt need the 5.7, the 5.0 suited my needs easily. I bought it to bumper pull a 30ft RV.
-Cost of repairs on Toyota much higher than Ford.
-In 2011 CR reported that the F150 as good as or better than Toyota in all categories. That alone was impressive to me as Toyota seemed to be the bench mark.
-Supporting American/Canadian economy.
-Lastly Price was better than what I could buy a Toyota for. (THis was not the deciding factor here)
- I was voting with my wallet and voting AGAINST GM. (Government Motors)

I am sure that with either you will be happy.

I'm not one to be brand loyal. If I can afford what I want, that's the route I go. Every manufacturer has issues of some sort with everything they make, so really, it's a gamble no matter what you choose. I like the idea of the 6.2 or the 5.0 though. I think there are issues with the Ecoboosts that need to be straightened out before I'd consider one. And of course, it depends what you need the truck to do for you. I've never visited the Toyota forum, but I have read too much bad stuff here about Ford. Many more issues out there than I would have thought.

I imagine you'll get more 'buy Ford' over here, and more 'buy Toyota' in the other forum, and I suspect you are anticipating that.

We've owned lots of vehicles in the last 20 years, including 3 Toyota's (Camry, Highlander and Lexus RX) and have never really been brand loyal (purchased Honda, GM, Chrysler, Toyota and now Ford). I can honestly say at this point I don't think I would ever even consider another brand of truck. I love the look of the exterior and interior of the F150 much better than the Tundra (all personal preference, I know), and on paper my little 3.5L ecobeast looks just as good (if not better) than Toyota's 5.7L.

I have had zero issues with my 2011 F150 FX4 and when it comes time to buy another truck, it will definitely be another F150.

Drive 'em both, compare your needs and wants, then go with your gut.

As Phyer Phyter said..."either way you'll be happy".

aside from that the f-150 looks much better inside and out in every way, which is a personal opinion of course...

you have, posted above, the frame thing, but that's not where it ends. in general, the toyota is the weakest built 1/2 ton on the market, whereas the F-150 is the best in most ways.

I would consider that reason enough, besides as also mentioned before, the sacrifice in space...and I know I wouldn't want to support the import brand lol.

so I'd certainly go with the ford without even thinking lol

While I could give you lots of reasons why I didn't buy a Toyota (not a Ford either), North American content is not one of them. Check this link, from which I quote, "The midsize Dodge Dakota, at 84 percent, has just a bit more North American content than the full-size Toyota Tundra, at 80 percent. The Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon come in third, with 75 percent. For those who are curious, the 2011 report shows the Ram truck at 70 percent, the Chevrolet Silverado at 61 percent, and the Ford F-Series at 60 percent."

Ford it seems has the least North American content of the 4 main manufacturers.
