F-150 3.5L EcoBoost - Coming to a dealer near you

Will have to test drive one of them, just to see how it performs. But think I'd opt for the Screw Raptor with 6.2L instead.

"Ford has committed to reducing vehicle weight by between 250 and 750 pounds per vehicle."
I wonder if the new F150 will have a "can't use the drive thru option" or what gym membership are they selling with the extended warranty?
Interesting ideas here but I worry that its the mid to late 1970's all over again...

Now I agree it looks like the 70's all over again, being the EPA is requiring much more fuel efficient vehicles. But think about it, the EB 3.5L in the SHO makes 55hp more than the current 5.4L and makes only 15 lb-ft less. So put a truck tune on that, raising the lb-ft and reducing the hp and you'll still be making equal if not more power than the 5.4L. Plus being a turbo, you'll see much better hp/lb-ft throughout the powerband, where the 5.4L gets winded in the upper RPMs.
I think the EB motor may be a hit here on CO, being we travel at much higher altitudes than most the rest of the country. Had Ford decided to drop the 4.4L Diesel into the F150, it too would have been a hit in high elevation areas due to the turbo's.

It better provide the power and towing of a V-8...or why buy a F-150

Well, a lot of people don't need a V8, as they don't need the power or towing ability. Just a full-size truck for the room and bed size. My first truck was an 81 F150 with a 4.9L/300cid I6. That truck could work better than most the 5.0L/302cid of like years. If I remember correctly, the 302cid had more HP, but the 300cid had more lb-ft.

Honestly, 400/400 seems perfectly reasonable to expect from the EB in the F-150. Put that with 15-20% better fuel efficiency? Perfect.

Depending on the specs, wonder if Ford would consider bringing back the Lightning with an EB 3.5L, or possibly an EB 5.0L.
