During the summer of 1978 I was working part time to pay my way through college at a dairy. It was a small family owned operation with 4 brothers and a sister running it. I just happened to be in the break room when one of the owners came in, picked up the phone and ordered a brand new 1978 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy. He already had an identical 1972 model The guy was a WW-2 Navy vet who literally cussed like a sailor. The end of the conversation I heard was interesting to say the least.

Two months later the truck was delivered to the dairy just as we started rounding up cattle. A friend of mine saw the new truck outside and yelled "Hey, uncle Charlie, let me use your truck to help get these cattle up". Charlie threw the keys to his nephew and I hopped into the passenger seat. We broke it in right before the owner ever sat in the seat. That truck and the 1972 model were driven 300,000 miles each, were beat to hell and never washed. But the oil was changed and all other service work done.

During a substantial snow fall, of about 2 feet, I watched a guy in a F350 duelly, brand new, still with temp tags, bed with a large sand dispenser, engage his plow at over 35. What happen next, came dead stop in about a foot bending the frame right behind the cab so bad that front and back were both at a opposite 30 degree angles. My dad and I were out working and my dad being an old construction guy turned and just said "physics'a bitch"
