Default Engine Won't Turn Over

1998 F15- with 4.2 V6 engine. Starts to turn over than acts as if the engine has seized. So far I have been able to put the manual transmission in 1st gear and rock the PU. I then can get back in and start the engine. So far this has happened when the temp is in the 40's. Once it has started it will start right up again. What do you think?

Siezed? Like it cranks, cranks, and then cr...and stops? Any clicking? If rocking the truck makes it work that signals starter. Have you had the starter/battery checked at autozone? Have them check the battery and the starter.

It seems to turn over less than a full revolution then lock up. My personal feeling is that it is the starter, but a freind of mine (retired mechanic) said it could be flooded. Injector filled the cylinder with fuel and therefore no air to compress. Fuel has to drain from the cylinder before it can be turned over. ?

Hmm....well Are you pushing the truck in 1st or just rocking it? I wonder if a compression test here would work. Maybe torkum or one of the other mechanics on here can chime in.

Well ask you mech buddy if he thinks a compression test will work for his theory.
If it runs take it to auto zone and have them check starter. It sounds like that to me. Just me
Though.
