Ecoboost oil change

Changed the oil for the first time today. What a pain in the A**. I removed all the plates hoping that no oil would be left after removing the filter. I was wrong. After completing the oil change I rotated my tires and when I had the front jacked up more oil drained from the pan under the filter. Now I let the truck sit over an hour and tried to wipe out the deflector pan under the filter. To no avail. I do not want oil draining on my garage floor or my driveway.

I will never let anybody else change because they wont take the time to make sure all the oil has drained.

Did find I had a hitchhiker on the metal plate under the engine. Seems a sparrow got caught and did not make it back out. I noticed that both the rubber covers are missing. Hope this not a problem.

I am planning to change my own oil too when I get my Ecoboost. But since I don't have it yet I'm curious what makes it so messy. Poor design/location of the oil pan drain plug? Or bad location of the oil filter?

I would say the location of the oil filter. No problem with the drain.
