Default Door ajar light

Does anyone know how to clean/lubricate the switches which turn this light on?

On the 97+ models it is part of the door latch. Lube the latch and open/close the door a few times to free it up.

Should I use WD 40 or regular grease?

WD40 is not a lubricant. I use white lithium grease in a can.

Default ajar switch

Pull door panel, Inside there is the latch assembly. It will be a push and quarter turn and pull. Replace switch. repeat in reverse and switch is fixed. Taurus's had problems with this, or at least for every truck there were 10 Taurus's. Just sprayin' lube in the latch only worked for a short while and customer was back. Good luck hope this helped.

i have had the same problem with 2 97 f150's one xl and the other and xlt , it seems to be natorious with them especially for the drivers side, the lithium grease was the thing that stopped me from pulling out my hair every other week when i first just used wd/40

Default Door ajar, dome light on

Thanks for the WD-40 tip on the door latch. I'm going to try that. If it doesn't work, does anyone know how to just disconnect whatever sends the door open reading? I'm fine with breaking a sensor or unplugging a fuse. '98 F150 has 260k miles so I only care about things that keep it running. Thanks!

Default Here is what you need

I am a hamradio operator who enjoys resurrecting vintage vacuum tube equipment. old switches of all kinds or one of the main troubles you have with a 60+ year old rigs. The sovereign cure for a switch that is salvageable is Caig Deoxit; Deoxit D, and Deoxit Gold G-Series http://www.caig.com/
I have used Caig chemicals for several decades. Caig Deoxit cleans and assures a good electrical connections in switches and other contacts such as fuse boxes, automotive circuit boards etc. Everybody should have these chemicals in their tool boxes. When installing a new fuse an almost microscopic amount on the contact surfaces will ensure a good electrical contact, Control connections for the vehicles electronic controls.etc all benefit from Deoxit. The best thing to do is get what Caig calls "The Survival Kit" which has all of the chemicals you need to keep the DC voltage and Digital signals flowing.
