Default Does Ford have special water resistant glass?

Ok, stupid question, but I have to ask.

Does Ford use any type of specific glass or coating on the windshield that repels water?

I got a used 2004 (first truck ever) and one thing I notice is that the wipers work incredibly well. The other night I had a HUGE bird do his thing while driving my son to his rehearsal. I tried to use the wipers to wipe it off, but the crap (no pun intended) just smeared a huge arc of it across the windshield so I pulled over at a gas station.

As I cleaned the windshield at the gas station I noticed that the windshield cleaning fluid was literally beading up in large ***** and rolling off very quickly.

I have not done anything to the windshield other than wash it with window or glass cleaner a few times and I have run the truck thru 2-3 car washes since I have had it.

I don't want to remove or damage this coating, so I'm looking for any input as to what it is and maybe how to maintain it. I've heard of (but never used) products like RainX, but would not want to use this product or any other that might ruin or damage what is on the truck now.

Any suggestions or comments?

I use rain x, 70 mph on the freeway and I don't even have to use my wipers.

Love it.

Just buy the rainx washer fluid. Like above... Speeds 35+ and you won't even need wipers.

Th US Air Force has been using Rain X on fighter windscreens (that I know of) since the 1970s on the F-15. That is a good enough recommendation for me. And yes I use it.

For those using RainX, how long does an application typically last?

What ever is on my truck has lasted over a month with no degradation even after hand cleaning and a few car washes.

My trucks windows don't absorb water, so I say it is water resistant.
