Meh, that's pretty slow. I bet my Miata could beat that.

My 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD(Also a VM Motori...2.8L 4cylinder intercooled turbo) with a tune from www.GreenDieselEngineering.com ...weights 4450# without driver.

Jeep...RT=.1078 0-60ft=2.224 1/8=10.39 @ 64.8 1/4=16.46 @ 80.8
EcoD..RT=.2370 0-60ft=2.121 1/8=10.13 @ 66.72 1/4=15.992 @ 83.63

Stock Jeep CRD 0-60mph is ~11.90 seconds...Mine with tune is ~9.4 sec.

That is ~2.5 seconds faster just 0-60mph with a great tune. I imagine Keith at GDE can make these EcoD's much quicker. Most likely in the mid 14's 1/4 and 0-60 ~ 8+...not that bad IMO. Certainly not an Ecoboost...but with a GDE Tune...definitely not a pure pig.

Don't get me wrong...I love the performance of my Ecoboost...but I also enjoy my little tractor

I just can't use the EcoDiesel to pull my TT...whereas the Ecoboost pulls it with no problem.

ET wise...that is just about what a stock Miata does (1.6L or 1.8L...not mazdaspeed). I raced for Mazda and raced the first Spec Miata at the 24 Hours of Moroso. Started New Years Eve 1999 and finished New Years Day 2000.

Quote from an article about our travels down the SM (Spec Miata) trail:

In October of 1998, Shannon McMasters, Tim Evans, Danny Benzer and Wally Darbyshire starting building a prototype Spec Miata for the 24 Hours in Moroso. We got Mazda, Kumho, Miata.Net and Texas Body Works to sponsor our team. Shannon found a used miata and we hauled the car to Todd Oppermann who had built cages for some of John Phillips Grand Am Cup Miatas. Once that was completed, Shannon replaced all bushings and rubber in the suspension and then we all got together one weekend to hang the new suspension and drop in a new crate motor.
We raced the SM prototype in November 1998 in ITA and finished first in class. From there, we went to Moroso and finished 10th overall and 2nd in ITA in the 24 hour event. David Del Genio also brought 3 of his older Grand Am Cup cars that were prototype 1994-97 1.8 SM's. Our 1.6l prototype SM finished in front of the 1.8l's."

Me : I drove the 9 hours of night and heavy downpours and we were in 1st place...told the group we needed to replace the front pads for running in the dry. The brakes were weak when I got in the car ... from the previous 3 daytime drivers ... I elected to go the night easy on the brakes and use downshifting as my edge. We came out at 7am with a 3 lap lead in class. The team leader decided to try to limp to the end...bad decision and we lost by half a lap to Probst.

I had a '06 Jeep Liberty with the 2.8L diesel and the GDE tune. Also the Frankenlift II. My son got it from me.

But that will probably be the last diesel in a auto or pickup I get for some time. I don't want to mess with all the new emissions junk on the new stuff. At least I was able to get my 2013 semi truck without an engine and trans, and then dropped in a factory rebuilt pre-emission engine and factory rebuilt trans. Best of both worlds... new truck and an engine that can actually do what it is supposed to do without all the EPA stuff. And all of it... 100% legal. EPA ties the emissions to the year the engine is built and not the year the vehicle is built. A little loophole in the regulations. But this only works legally if the vehicle is ordered without an engine. If it came with one of the new engines, this is not backward compatible. If only the pickup OEM's had the insight that the heavy truck builders have.

I have a 2013 FX4 with the appearance, and his interior still blows mine away, zero competition. If interiors were my only consideration, The RAM destroys anything Ford puts out. It's amazing how much attention to detail in design RAM really stepped it up and even got on Wards 10 best interiors list.
OK, back on topic, LOL. But you have to admit (parting shot) that there were a lot of dead bodies on the road in "the good old days, when they made real cars". A thousand+ dead people a week, every week. Yikes!

Anyway, the poster above is saying that the 2015 Ram interiors are much nicer than Ford's 2013. Anyone know how the 2015 Ford interior stacks up?

Tomorrow we go to the Vegas Motor Trend Auto Show. Both Ford and Ram look look like they are going to have big displays.

HOPEFULLY, a 2015 F-150 will be there. If so, I will have the boss compare interiors and render an opinion.

From what I have read on the 2015 F-150 road show thread, the upscale interiors are very nice. We'll see. Wish me luck.

Just to update, after a month of looking hard at the Eco Diesel and being able to validate the cost of diesel and the better gas mileage vs the cost of gas and its worse gas mileage, I'm once again staying with Ford.

MSRP on the 2014 3.5 Eco XLT 4x4 screw luxury is 48690. Got it discounted down to $37700 and with my trade equity got it to $26000 out the door with 6 free oil changes. Ram Express with cloth, bench seat, no running boards, no hid headlights msrp is $43,500 Add leather and running boards and i was at $27,000 out the door. So my $1000 savings in fuel mileage over 4 years would be eat up in up front costs to get a comparable trimmed truck.

Maybe in a couple years when Ram gets all the bugs worked out and diesel isn't .70 more per gallon with oil changes at $120+, i'll revisit this option.

Or ill look at the '15 Ford 2.7. But the $8500 in incentives on the '14s pays for a lot of fuel over the '15 with $1250 in incentives.

OK, 1 white 2015 Lariat, locked up tighter than a drum. Can only imagine what leather felt like.

Ram Big Horn, leather had a very nice feel, hope Ford tries to match.

But, the boss noticed a few things. Maybe the Ram owners can explain them.

First, is that contact paper on the trim around the dash and on the doors? Because if it is wood, sorry, it looks like contact paper. Other people looking agreed, I asked. When we got back to the parking lot, we also agreed that my 2010 plastic wood trim still looked nicer than Ram's wood/contact paper trim.

What is up with that giant hump on the floor in the back seat? I thought flat floors were the norm on trucks. Obviously I was wrong . The Ram website pictures do a good job of covering up the hump, but it is a big momma.

Is that hump the reason that they made the middle of the back bench a kiddie seat, not as wide as the bench? And they put the cupholders at floor level on the hump. Say what?

Other than the slightly nicer leather, I would prefer my 2010 Lariat interior over the Ram. But that is just opinion.

I hope the '15 Ford doesn't make such obvious mistakes.

We'll see.

My wife didn't like the middle back seat size or hump either. We have a 12 yr old and twin 8 yr olds so i thought the hump would be ok for them. When i sat in the middle it was definitely a position i would not want to be in very long.
