I have a fully loaded FX4 w/ appearance package and the 5.0L. I'm averaging 17mpg lifetime combined driving (19k miles) with 3.73 gears. Highway driving I average between 18.3 to 19.4 mpg (driving about 75 - 80 mph. I'd probably get better mpg if I went 65 - 70 mph, which is California's speed limits).
AND, I'll take all these srt8's and raise you a Roush w/ a fully built 4.6L and 2.3 TVS charger, lol!!!

With what lol. The slowest heap on the highway that struggles the most to accelerate.... I agree. They took the crown Ford used to carry there. I got a chance at a new 2014 8 speed Hemi Ram 1/2 ton this weekend that had about 10000 miles on it. .... I think paint dries faster than that thing accelerates. I should have went and found my buddies old 97 Chevy that smoked my 09 Ram... pretty sure it would be a repeat victory. Fuel economy.... well whatever floats your boat.
I do miss my SRT8 Charger I had though... should have never sold it. Oh well.
At the end of the day most of you are driving a 6000 pound plus brick down the highway.... it's not going to be amazing. Pick your poison.

Now I also LOOOOOOOVE the interiors of the new Rams with the screen in the cluster and the 8" in dash plus the **** shifter. Depending on the model they also have very nice details in them.

I believe you are more focused on racing and he is more focused on fuel economy that is why I suggested he go with the Ram. Also the Ram rides very nice especially with the air suspension. It all comes down to needs and wants because what fits the bill for you could possibly never work for me. I think acceleration times of 8-9 seconds in real world is not bad for a diesel when your getting close to 23-25MPG mix.

I think a loaded Fx4 would suit your needs, it's plenty of luxury but still has a very sporty look compared to the rest. I have now 11,000 kms on my 13 eco supercrew fx4 and have a combined lifetime of 19 mpg. I also went with the eco over the 5.0 all because of tuning. I don't tow very much but having owned several fast cars including my last which is an srt8 challenger, the eco with tuning is fast as hell for a truck. It will actually surprise you when you find yourself leaving cars behind that you wouldn't expect. ANd all this while still averaging 19mpg.

I think the Sony system is pretty good. Did you try adjusting anything with it? If not then its like all the people who walk into Best Buy and look at all the tv's on the wall and pick which one looks best. They can all be adjusted, and there not all adjusted the same. I had to turn the bass and treble up on mine.

Hmm this was helpful. Now It's wierd how the salesman didn't inform me the limited was AWD with 3.73.... That has to hurt fuel economy. Do you guys think A fully loaded FX4 (Which I could get quite a bit cheaper) would fit my needs better.
Now .... I do little to no towing.... If I were to go to the FX4 should I get the 3.73 gears anyway?? Or will 3.55 show better economy.
I live in british columbia where we have ALOT of hills and turns so I'm wondering if the 3.73 would pay off in the end

With the EB (and again especially if you tune it), the 3.55 and 3.73 gears will tow just about any load just fine. The EB makes max power so low and holds it like a diesel. It is hard to imagine just how powerful the engine is until you do put a load back there and tow. It seriously is incredible. I have the 3.73 and get decent mileage (but I also have a very heavy foot.) The 3.55 will definitely show better economy and if 1-2 mpg is that important to you, get em.
An FX4 fully optioned has most of what the Limited has and unless I am mistaken (could be) it has softer shocks for the offroad-ability.
I have an FX4 and absolutely love the truck. The lesser outlay also leaves room for more upgrades.

I drove a brand new dodge ram after driving my 79 f150 ranger I gotta say my 79 still rides smoother and handles and accelerates better than the ram ill stick to ford trucks. New dodges are kind of ridiculous when it comes to repairs under the hood some of em you have to take the wheel off to replace the frikkin battery how stupid is that

I'd opt for the 3.73 gears, the difference in MPG is negligible between 3.55 and 3.73. 1-2 MPG MAX (probably less) difference should not be deciding factor in a $50k truck.
