Default Dodge owner might switch to F150?

Hey all, have been a dodge owner for the past couple years ( 2011 ram 1500 and srt8 charger)

Now the charger i will not part with but i've been looking at financing a new truck and I test drove the Ecoboost f150 and wanted to hear from you guys.

What I liked : I set my eyes on the limited ecoboost with blue leather and fully loaded. Employee pricing had it at around 53 and I wiggled them down to 48CDN.
Leather is nice, lots of options, feels luxurious.

What I didnt like: Sound system sounded weak for a fully loaded sony with a 700W sub, Suspension felt "Un-truck like" and was stiff and bouncy compared to my Ram. Will this easy out over time?

Now what I'm looking for is an improvement in fuel economy (And of course fully loaded truck since it is my daily driver) What I'm wondering is this the truck I'm looking for?

Have they resolved the turbo issues for 2014. Should i risk it going for an eco-boost which is new technology or stick with the trusted hemi and know It will go the distance.

The 2014 Hemi Ram with the 8 speed transmission has the same exact EPA ratings on the window sticker as the Ecoboost. The #s for a 4x4... 15 city, 17 combined, 21 highway.
As for the ride, sometimes on new trucks the tires are inflated to near max pressure which would firm up the ride a bit. Unless your towing heavy or loaded up heavy you don't need that much air. So you should look into that. If that's not the issue than you're probably just used to the cushy coil springs on the rear of the Ram whereas the F150 has leaf springs which are better for payload and towing.
FWIW, I'd choose the Ecoboost. However.. if I chose the Limited I'd have to ditch the 22" wheels for something a bit smaller, 18's or 20's.

A few things.

The sounds system isn't the best. The only way to fix it is to add some aftermarket components and there are threads here that can give you better info on that.

The F150 will feel like a truck because the Ram feels like a car. As stated above, to get the payload you give up some softness.

No one I personally know with the Eco has had a problem with the turbo.

Find the same or similar truck with a 5.0 & 6.2 and test drive them also so you don't regret it later.

Dude I really like Fords when it comes to trucks but I have to admit Ram is hitting it out of the park. I would go test drive a new Ram but when it comes to pricing you may be able to get the Ford cheaper because a new model is coming out. Oh and is a Ram Eco-Diesel in your budget because of so I would leap at it!

I'm laughing my guts out.....first you say that fuel economy is important to you but wonder if you should stick with the "trusted hemi?".......The suspension felt "un-truck like?".....what is a truck suspension supposed to feel like? How does a suspension "easy out over time?"

Is it like a fine wine and get better after 20 years? I think you should stick with Ram

With what lol. The slowest heap on the highway that struggles the most to accelerate.... I agree. They took the crown Ford used to carry there. I got a chance at a new 2014 8 speed Hemi Ram 1/2 ton this weekend that had about 10000 miles on it. .... I think paint dries faster than that thing accelerates. I should have went and found my buddies old 97 Chevy that smoked my 09 Ram... pretty sure it would be a repeat victory. Fuel economy.... well whatever floats your boat.

I do miss my SRT8 Charger I had though... should have never sold it. Oh well.
At the end of the day most of you are driving a 6000 pound plus brick down the highway.... it's not going to be amazing. Pick your poison.

You drove the Limited, 22in rims on lo-pros....has a bit to do with the ride. I drove an XLT with 17s and it felt a little gooey and the round bricks known as Pirelli Scorpions on my 07 made the truck ride stiffer. Of course, my car had 245/45/17, Konis, Eibachs, and Kenny Brown braces.....everything else short of a new Boss302 or track pack GT is hashtagmeh.

Anyhow, the Limited is quite pimptastic, i like the Marina Blue leather better than the red of the previous year. You get standard 3.73s on AWD, but keep in mind, the towing capacity on the Limited is lower than the other trucks, AND the Limited is an Ecoboost only truck. 48k on the L isnt bad, you might find a better deal on an FX truck, i got about 9k off my truck.

Oh, Badass69.... You are fulla it, you never owned an SRT8. Pics or its vaporware!

The SRT cars are nifty, love the seats. Superbee version was the hotness!

Back in '07, when i bought my truck, i looked at a few other whips....335i Sedan, grabber orange GT, Blaze Metallic GTO, and Cayman Blue G35 coupe.....but, i walked into the local dodge dealership and saw a black RT optioned the way I wanted it...but saw the Sublime model in front of the showroom. I sat in it, played with the stuff, etc....and had a 10k check for a downpayment. The salesdudes ignored me. I bought a Lariat and my salesguy called the same Dodge dealership to inform them of the lost sale.
