Default Do exhaust tips really make your truck sound louder?

I have a 2003 ford f150 crew cab and I was just wondering if it makes your truck and louder or not.

Some do, depends on the tip. Bigger, longer tips usually deepen/increase the sound. If its a "resonator" then no.

If the tip is a larger diameter than the piping, then yes it will make it louder.

I am not a "sound" expert, but I believe if the diameter of the tip is bigger than the exhaust then it will be louder. I know that was already stated, but using a Texas Edition for example w/the chrome tip. That particular tip will not make the truck sound any louder because it is a sleeve as opposed to an extension to the exhaust. Some people believe chrome sleeves are more aesthetically pleasing. Hope that makes sense. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The new tip will only make it louder if you also remove the muffler. Changing one tip for another isn't going to do much.

When I installed my exhaust tip, it didn't not make it any louder and I have a 6" tip. If anything it made it have a deeper tone at idle but that's about it.

A tip alone will not change anything about the original exhaust sound.

Aside from makin the end of ur exhaust shiny they dont do anythng for sound. My advice for quick sound would b to cut off ur exhaust piping at the muffler exit and throw a 45 degree elbow on it..
