It gets complicated and i cant explain all the details here... but the 4x4 tax would solve the deficit, would end the war on terror and would free Tibet
Screw Tibet. If they wanna be free let them buy 4X4 s and drive themselves to freedom.

I live in So. IN. We do have hills in the southern portion.

I went though this past winter as well 4wd was nice for the stop light to stop light stuff. I have had 2 2wd trucks and I got stuck in both of them in damp grass. The f-150 will be my 2nd 4x4. I won't go without 4x4 now. It's too convient. Turn the **** and take off normally. No fuss or spinning.

I said the same thing with my Explorer, the only time it got used was on boat launch ramps.

The rest of the time it was just sucking my wallet dry at the fuel pump. Buy a 2 wheel drive and put a winch in the hidden space behind the bumper (which is what I'm going to do) problem solved for that "just incase moment".

Almost all the trucks I see are 4X4. I've driven a rear wheel drive truck now for a couple years. I've driven through snow storms and I have been careful and don't need 4X4. A good set of snow tires and common sense has helped.

The new truck I'm picking up this weekend is also rear wheel drive. I like having the smaller fuel tank and my fuel economy has been excellent.

Oh come on, sucking your wallet dry, I think you're being a bit dramatic.

What's it add, maybe a couple hundred pounds of weight?
Maybe 1 mpg lost in city driving? If even that

A winch is all fine and good on a trail somewhere, where there are anchor points of some sort, where you don't have to worry about blocking the road and getting out, but in actual every day driving it'd be pretty useless.

I'm picturing a guy winching himself up a hill in the snow, stopping and getting out to re hook the line every time he pulls himself another 50 ft up the hill.

If you went 100 ft or more down a snowy hillside, you have bigger problems
