Lol. Nice.
I opted for the "Radiator stop leak" fluid.
That gives me a lot more time to drink beer.

Hear that, just not a fan of the stop leak stuff. Please don't go overboard with it. Seen to many radiators getting plugged up because of it. Seems when the stop leak reaches air is hardens up. What happens if coolant is a little low on capacity and exposing the radiator tubes to the air in the top tank, it seals over, doesn't it.

I had to remove the dash in my '01 SCrew. It was really a pain in the *** for me considering the part I was replacing. I've done them in other cars where all you have to do is pull it out from under the dash. DO NOT forget to disconnect the PRND12 wire. I got going to fast trying to get the dash out and forgot the little wire. Live and learn

I just had it done at a Ford dealership repair shop. Same symptoms, coolant smell in cabin, coolant on inside of windshield. It cost me $623... $530 in labor and $93 parts (incl new core, some foam padding, some kind of glue, tax, etc.) And yes, I watched them remove the entire dash... although I *think* some of the removal was for ease of access and maybe to bump the labor cost up (who could say). It took them 5 hours. It works great now.

Well here is the end of the story for me. I tried the radiator leak stop first and it seemed to help a little and the smell went from "fishy" to a Syrupy" smell. There was still no evidence of coolant inside the vehicle though. So it didn't fix the problem. I needed a bigger vehicle for all my kids and something that could haul motre so I traded the truck in for a 2000 Excursion. Got a good deal and it is a V10 so can pull a lot more. Kind of feel like I quit on the whole thing but I did need a bigger vehicle.
I guess the moral of the story is fork out the money and get it fixed. The cheapest I was quoted was $495 in labor and the part was about $80.
Thanks for all the input. Hopefully this will save someone some time in the future.
