the computer is controlling just about everything your engine does these days, she wouldnt go at all without it.Sometimes these scanners will say its disconected because it dont recieve a responce, and that could be for various reasons.Cable not hooked in correctly etc.

They probably got a "not ready reading" which is what DMV got when I first went thru inspection. I'd disconnected the battery a week before for awhile. As it was so cold (below 37 F) the computer couldn't complete it's boot cycle which requires 150 miles driven above 37 degrees F.

They are idiots at Autozone. The will get an oxygen sensor code and sell the customer an oxygen sensor. The customer finally comes to me and I fix the vacuum leak. Just because it throws a particualr code dosent mean it was caused by the part throwing the code. Check your cigarett lighter fuse and make sure its good and read the codes again.

Awww, trust me, if NGM is being a smart-aleck about something, there will be no question about it :-)~

Suggest that the cigarette lighter circuit may also power some other essential item.

Yes the cig. fuse powers the data link connector which allows the scanner to power up and communicate.

Doggone - even this old dog can learn some new stuff. Thanks Big D - figured there was a valid reason, just didn't know why.
