Question clunk, then engine miss and flashing engine light.

Driving home last night and I was getting into a passing lane, to get the truck moving I hit the gas and it down shifted. I heard a small pop/clunk from what sounded like the driver side and the truck started to shake pretty bad. Like I had blown a tire. But I noticed that the engine was missing pretty bad and the check engine light was flashing. So I slowed down and went up the hill under normal throttle. In about .25 mile the engine light stopped and the engine ran fine. The whole way home it ram smooth and normal.

WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?? LOL.. help....

Best thing to do is to get your codes read to see what my have happened. One of the best thing you can spend money on is a OBDII code reader.

Seeing where you are from I would venture to say you ran over a Groundhog...it's gonna be a long cold winter now!

Just kiddin, what engine and what year truck are you talking about? Someone is bound to have seen this issue.

I've put one in my 02 also. Seems to be very common. Don't be surprised to replace it again and again. Knock on wood I've only done it once.

Had that happen on my '98. Started running rough (thought it was mis-balanced tires at first, then saw a flashing CEL, although it didn't throw a code) Result: new spark plugs and COPs fixed it. I'd replace all eight just to know you won't have another one spring out at you.

Quick Reply: clunk, then engine miss and flashing engine light.
