I had USAA for 20 years no accidents ect, ect. When it came time to add my 16 yo daughter and her. 08 Altima USAA was way up there. So I switched to GEICO was given an affordable protection plan with full coverage in Louisiana like the second highest ins rates in the nation. Pay $278.00 per month, USAA Came in at $ 395 per month. And I am a government employee.

Same coverage on my truck as my wife's Escape but I pay more for liability than she does, collision/comprehensive and other is the same.

If you are a government employee go with Geico for the best price, many people don't realize what Geico stands for but it is....

Government
Employee
Insurance
COmpany

If you are military that is considered gov employee also.

.
Like you just said, it is very subjective. Geico isn't going to be the best for everyone regardless of whether they are prior service or not. My dad (retired) and myself (prior service) have quoted them before and it sure wasn't anything to write home about. Nowadays, the competitive of the market has everyone catering to servicemembers and blabbing about how many dollars you could save a month/year through them. (Disclaimer: Not bashing Geico at all.)

Personally, we both use USAA....who still addresses us by our respective ranks every single time we've had to call them. That's a nice touch and they only serve military members. They offer tons of other services beyond insurance.

BTW, I've been with State Farm for probably longer than you've been on the earth, and have never had a problem with them. Very responsive when their needed.
This X 1,000.

I work with these insurance companies everyday. And seeing how they get their rates that low, i would never use progressive, or geico.

A progressive adjuster once tried to convince us to plastic weld (melt) an air intake together. Had to explain to her that we can't guarantee that will work, and we needed a new one. She also managed a burger king 2 months before she became a progressive adjuster.

I have liberty mutual currently, and after seeing how they want cars fixed, i will be switching to state farm soon.

My wife and myself have Geico for our 04 F150 and 13 Kia soul. We pay $454 every 6 months. We have our house with them as well so we get a decent discount. Its cheaper than anywhere I can find. Our vehicles and house is insured for a year for a shade under $2k. This is full coverage on both with a $500 deductible I believe.

Both of us have clean driving records. I am 28 she is 26.

Recently switched to Geico because we did, in fact, save a bunch of money on our car insurance. For the same coverage, we now owe about $80/month - and that's only because after purchasing a 2013 F150, we still have 3 vehicles. Once we remove the 2004 F150, it'll drop down quite a bit.
Trying to get USAA right now actually, they quoted me at a really good price. the only problem is getting qualifies as a military family... which is hard when there is a "dishonorable discharge" involved. (wish I was joking, LOL).

the cheapest I found otherwise was from http://www.4autoinsurancequote.com - $59/month for minimum coverage. I wanna do some more research on them however before I put my John Hancock on the policy.

State Farm also seems affordable and reliable ($72/month). GEICO appears to be expensive (I guess cause I'm not a govt employee?)

Look for a possible local company in your area. We use a company called Bear River and other agents trying to sell will say thanks for the time and move on when you say that is your insurer. Big guys rates are 2x.

When I had State Farm (in Jersey mind you), my rate was twice as high. They didn't take kindly to my wife having a suspended license. After we suffered with that for a year, got with USAA and it was cut in half. Then cut in half again when I moved back here.

Rates are different per state. As of 2012, Michigan, DC, etc have the highest rates in the country. Not sure about this year yet.

I suppose i have an advantage working in the collision repair industry. Watching all the adjusters come in and argue that your vehicles do not deserve OEM parts, do not deserve to have the paint blended, simply because you have reached a certain mileage point (some are as low as 18k miles). Or is X amount of years old.

I choose who i get by, who cooperates the most and the customers best interest in mind. Formerly LM, soon to be State Farm. State Farm is not allowed to use aftermarket parts by law
