Question Cheapest insurance for a Ford F150?

Just picked up a 2011 F-150 from a buddy of mine. It's still sitting in my driveway though as I've yet to get insurance for it.

Are there any specific companies I should be looking at? Anyone who specifically deals with pickup/truck insurance? Or should I just go for your average insurance company like GEICO or State Farm?

I'm looking for the cheapest possible coverage that's still somewhat reputable.

Any thoughts?

It depends on your driving history, age, location, etc.

If you're under 25 and male, you're screwed.

^Ditto.

Is this your first vehicle? I'm guessing your 28 (?) from your username? I could be wrong, but I know I've carried the same insurance company since i was 16 and get a smoking good rate that noone can beat. I get a discount for over 10 years service, and I have no accidents. (Knock on wood!) This will all play into account along with coverage amounts and deductibles as well. Call around. Anyone will insure a truck, just need to find out if they will insure you based on the criteria gone postal said.

I have all of my stuff (2013 Screw F150, 2013 Edge Limited, 2013 Rhino 700, 2013 Grizzly 450, 4000 sqft house) all through Geico and have had no issues at all with them. I rolled my Rhino in July and sent them a $7500 estimate and had a check in 3 days.

I had USAA up till about 3 weeks ago; we paid about $120/month for 3 vehicles (2K 4Runner, 2004 F150, 2008 Fusion), full coverage, etc.

Recently switched to Geico because we did, in fact, save a bunch of money on our car insurance. For the same coverage, we now owe about $80/month - and that's only because after purchasing a 2013 F150, we still have 3 vehicles. Once we remove the 2004 F150, it'll drop down quite a bit.

Very subjective as stated already, age, married or not, home owner, good or bad credit, where you live etc all plays into the formula. Call around or surf for estimates before you settle. Type of vehicle really don't make much difference except the liability part is a little higher because of vehicle weight, the bigger and heavier it is the more liability costs.

Same coverage on my truck as my wife's Escape but I pay more for liability than she does, collision/comprehensive and other is the same.

If you are a government employee go with Geico for the best price, many people don't realize what Geico stands for but it is....

Government
Employee
Insurance
COmpany

If you are military that is considered gov employee also.

2010 xlt 4x4 sup cab=$285 for 6 months through progressive here in central Ohio. 2k deduct on comp and collision. Perfect record, and 45 years young. I have shopped around and couldn't find anything cheaper. I did have a hail damage claim on my RV 6 mos ago, but it didn't affect my rating. They set an appointment up that week, came out for about 3 hours in my drive, and cut me a fat check on the spot(more than fair). I was impressed with them.

Remember while your shopping that the cheapest insurance isn't always the best insurance. It's tough starting out as we all know. Good luck. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the new truck.

BTW, I've been with State Farm for probably longer than you've been on the earth, and have never had a problem with them. Very responsive when their needed.

I started out with Country Company and State Farm, but when GEICO offered the same coverage for 1/3 the price, I switched.

I am indeed a government employee, but for some reason, until about a year or so ago, it WASN'T the cheapest - USAA was. Switching to Geico for me was purely an economical reason this time; but if they suck, I'll shop around again.
