On my 2005 I had a mis-fire. No CEL but it had a code for it. With mis-fires it has to be severe to trigger a CEL.

I did take it to AutoZone for a scan and it showed no codes at all. Maybe I am just expecting more performance than what it really is. I get used to zooming around in my car and then my truck seems doggy. I see some posts about a "tune" or performance chip that perks these up some. May look into that or just be happy with it the way it is. Maybe a code will show up and there is something not quite right with it and I'll deal with it then. I do like the truck and was able to put my old 97 into semi retirement. All old red needs to do now is plow some snow and haul firewood. Thanks for the advices.
