Can a cop search your toolbox?

Whats he got to be mad about? His job is to enforce the law, not judge, not write the law. 500,000 police in america and 1 bad cop is one too many. Any officer over the line is worse than 100 criminals. And I am not mad just pointing out the rules were suppose to follow. Like hell I am not mad and I am not going to take it anymore..lol not really mad......

cops will make up any excuse they want to gain "reasonable/probable cause".. most people who has been driving a while knows this
their word VS yours, they win. step out and let them search.. if they wana search, theres no way to stop them, theyll just impound your vehicle at your expense and hold onto it untill they get a warrant to rip it apart.. even if they find nothing, they still win, welcome to america
ive had cops tell me my car smells like "burnt marijuana" a couple times.. when ive never once smoked marijuana in my car.. its insane , if you read the paper or police news enough, youll see they use the "burnt marijuana" claim quite often.. just an excuse to gain them the legal right to violate you

Alright fellas I apreciate all of the answers. That all helps me a lot. Be easy on the cop, he was just giving me an honest answer which is what I was asking for even if it is BS. Yes, there are a lot of corrupt cops these days which is unfortunate. And yes just because we dont agree to have them go through our personal belongings and disrespect our privacy does not make us guilty. To an extent questioning authority and trying to go against it is a good thing to do sometimes when you feel your rights are being violated. But to a further extent the majority of the time you will get the short end of stick. Yes I may still be a teenager and may not have as much first hand experience as some of you senior members, but I have had my fair share. Going against someone who has the power over you and your word is not the best idea. Yes, I have the urge many times a day to argue with people about things like this that I do not agree with whether it be the law or a teacher/administrator. If I am in a reasonable situation you sure as hell better know I'm going to tell you straight up how I feel to your face. But the majority of the time, you will get the short end of the stick when dealing with authority(yes I know from personal experience). Yes it is wrong but there is not too much we can do. Yes it is wrong to assume we are guilty. And yes it sucks we can't do too much about it. But this is the country we chose to live in and the laws we must abide by. Don't get me wrong one of my favorite songs is F the popo by Corey Smith. And yes I love the bumper sticker "Stop complaining, you voted for him. Not me."
I also agree with the "Just to make a point" side of it and I wouldn't let a Cop search me if I knew I had nothing on me and I would love for him to detain me only to find nothing if he were to get the warrant. That would make my day. My Nephew went to Baylor University and there was an issue one year where a student told a cop he was not allowed to enter the apartment but the cop did it anyways because he believed he saw an Ash Tray with Joints on it through the door and thought he smelled Marijuana. When he found nothing illegal it was the biggest mistake of that cops life.

I am probably going to reiterate what everyones already said, but it will be short and sweet. Everyone say, "if you ain't got nothing to hide, just submit to the Officer's request".
I don't know about everyone else, but the government and the state LOVE to throw around their "rights" all day everyday. Well, According to the 4th Amendment, TIME TO THROW AROUND MINE. Just because I don't have anything to hide does not mean that police have the right to go through my stuff.
I will always exercise my Constitutional rights whenever possible. People need to stop letting the states and government do what they please because you have nothing to hide. That is called Socialism! Where the government has control of everything and can stop you for no reason and go through your things. Use your Rights, or Lose your Rights! (maybe not, but it sounds good!)
I challenge people to read Terry v. Ohio, Miranda v. Arizona, Dumbra v. United States, and Carroll v. United States. All of these are excellent cases that justify our Constitution. It is these cases that the courts have decided upon that shape our country’s Constitution into something more than just words……It is proof that the Constitution works and is still in effect……That, my friend, is why we are the greatest Nation on the Planet!

So that just goes to show that Gun Control laws do nothing to stop the criminals from getting dangerous weapons, they only prevent law abiding citizens from properly protecting themselves.
Same as Unions, In my experience, they only protect the bad workers because the company doesn't want to get rid of the good hard working employee!!! DUHH!
Kinda got off on a tangent there

If you got nothing to hide, why not let him search the box and be done with it? He can search my box, all he is going to find is a log chain, ax, shovel, and a small floor jack and 4 way. We get mad at the cops for what?..being underpaid to put their lives on the line for us when we just want to treat them like crap.

Well one thing that makes me angry, is that I as a law abiding citizen have to go through a bunch of BS and rigamaroe to own a Fully Automatic Machine Gun and the like, when in fact the only crime in America committed with a LEGAL Machine Gun was by a Cop.
So that just goes to show that Gun Control laws do nothing to stop the criminals from getting dangerous weapons, they only prevent law abiding citizens from properly protecting themselves.

I wll be honest, I had a sheriff come to the door of my home and say "we had a report of a man with a gun and we would like to search your house." I said "no thank you" I also believe in the second amendment that we hav the right to arm bears...( bear arms).. I have many guns and I dont need a deputy to confirm or deny that I have them. I did see a guy on my property and at gun point I urged him to get the f*** of my property. Ok the gun went off too, but I did not call the police. The tresspasser called the police and said I was pointing my gun at people in the street.. I said I would like to report a trespass... In the end I never had a problem with a trespass again, the officer and i talked about the fact I was pretty remote and in the future to remember I was on my own until the police showed up 15 minutes to an hour.... So I go forth with my Bill of rights clutched in one hand and my weapon in the other... We are a people of defiance, thats what made this country great. We stood self evident in the right that all men are created equal and Smith & Wesson makes them equal...
