Default Buying a New 2015 F150

I've been an F150 owner for over a decade now, but have never bought a brand new one. When is the best time to purchase a new F150 from a dealership? Is there a promotion they run at a certain time of year that is better than others? Or is it just a matter of watching the promotions, rebates, incentives, etc? I'm not in a hurry, but this is something I plan on doing in the next year or two. Thanks for any feedback and advice you have for me. Thanks!

Generally speaking from knowledge i've gained throughout the years and researching vehicles I was looking at with intent to purchase, most folks say buying near the end of the month will get you a better price from a dealership that has been lagging in sales for the month. If your looking at a 15 you might be better of waiting a little towards the end of the year so the lots can clear way for the 16 models. I've seen a lot of posts that say dealers as of now aren't offering a lot of incentive to buy a 15 model as far as negotiating room.

Last couple days of the year, or even in January or February of the next year when they want the old models off the lot.

Spot on.

Year end clearance events are the start of the rebate / incentive frenzy typically. However, Year end clearance didn't affect 2015's much because that's literally when they were hitting dealers for the 1st time. It's a new revamp that was highly anticipated, so dealers won't budge much yet as it's only been out ~6 months.

After that, you will be seeing the absolute best when it's REALLY close to the new models hitting the showroom floors and anytime after that. Obviously the longer you wait, the lower the inventory selection is, but if you're not super finicky, and don't get drawn into stupid options you don't need you can win here all day searching wthin 500 miles.

Also, find the largest volume dealer in your area, and go through Truecar.com for the lowest prices, plus the Internet sales manager. They deal in VOLUME, so price negotiations with them is going to be far easier then smaller dealers or nickel dime low volume salesman looking for larger commissions.

I watched local dealers (NH) for over a year following prices. I found that the end of March had the best deals, especially on left overs. Truecar also gave me dealers to watch. We almost picked up a 2013 F150 last year in March. We decided to wait and I watched prices all year. Ended up picking up a 2014 F150 about 3 weeks ago. Almost 10k off and at least 5k lower than any surrounding dealers.

Yup! Pretty much just wait it out even though it may seem like a long time to wait for it but if you do then the discounts, rebates etc. will be there own reward.

I've never used Truecar, apparently I should. Thanks for the advice.

If you want a "good deal" on a truck right now it's time to buy a 2014 F150. Otherwise you should wait until the 2016s rolls out so they will be ready to move the 2015s

the first wave of good deals are usually august or September when traditionally (although not with the 2015 f150) the next year's model comes out... next is the beginning of the following year for the previous year's model which is slightly better than the late summer one.

significant style changes usually make for the biggest discounts... like was mentioned, if you look for a 2014 new on the lot right now, expect a pretty deal and likely one better than a normal late summer or beginning of the year deal

If you're interested in saving a few thousand bucks you may want to consider a left over 2014 unless you're dead set on a 2015. There are more intensives on the 2014 models.
